League of Legends - Most OP Champion

Updated on April 26, 2012

LoL - Most OP Champion

The most OP (overpowered) Champion in League of Legends is always a subject of much debate. From patch nerfs to personal opinion, what is considered the most OP champion seems to change from person to person and is a hotly discussed topic amongst the forums.

However I have compiled a list based on my own research and trawling of various forums to discern what people consider to be the most overpowered Champions in League of Legends.

Shaco - The Demon Jester

Shaco is the resident 'homicidal insane clown' assassin. Shaco is a great jungler and high melee/stealth DPS class which is offset by the fact that he is very fragile. If played correctly however, Shaco truly is a force to deal with.

Backstab (Passive) - Shaco deals bonus damage of 20% if he strikes a unit from behind.

Deceive (Active) - Shaco stealths for 3.5 seconds, teleporting to a nearby location. If he attacks while stealthed, he will critical hit for bonus damage.

Jack In The Box (Active) - Shaco will produce a Jack In The Box at a target location. The box will stealth after 2 seconds, and then pop out when an enemy comes near. It will fear them for a few seconds and deal magic damage. Casting Jack In The Box will break Shaco’s stealth. Cannot be cast inside walls.

Two-Shiv Poison (Passive) - Shaco’s attacks will poison his target, reducing their movement speed for 2 seconds and causing miss chance against minions.

Two-Shiv Poison (Active) - Using the active ability will deal half your weapon damage plus extra damage to a target enemy. It will also poison them for 3 seconds. The passive ability will not work whilst this is on cooldown.

Hallucinate (Active/Ultimate) – Shaco’s ultimate creates an illusion of himself nearby, this illusion will deals 25% less damage but receives 50% extra damage. The illusion only deals half damage to towers and inhibitors. Upon death, the illusion will explode dealing damage to nearby enemies. Lasts up to 18 seconds.

Ezreal The Prodigal Explorer

The boy genius with the gift of magic flowing through his veins and a powerful magical amulet of course, Ezreal is a popular choice for a ranged character for Team Ranked Games.

Rising Spell Force (Innate) – If a target is hit with any of Ezreal’s abilities, his attack speed is increased by 10% for 6 seconds, stacking up 5 times.

Mystic Shot (Active) – Ezreal fires a bolt of energy. If this bolt strikes an enemy unit it reduces all of Ezreal’s cooldowns by 1 second.

Essense Flux (Active) – A wave of energy is fired by Ezreal at a targeted area. Any enemy champions the wave passes through are damaged and have their attack speed slowed for 5 seconds. Any allied champions it passes through have their attack speed increased for 5 seconds.

Arcane Shift (Active) – Teleports Ezreal to a nearby location and fires a homing arrow at the nearest enemy unit, dealing damage.

Trueshot Barrage (Active/Ultimate) – Takes 1 second to channel, but fires a powerful barrage of energy missiles which deal damage to each enemy unit they pass through. It deals 8% less damage for each unit it hits and then 30% less damage for any hit after the first 4.

Pantheon The Artisan of War

This lethal stone faced warrior from Mount Gargantuan is another popular choice for Ranked Games, especially with his Global Ultimate when used effectively can be devastating.

Aegis Protection (Innate) – Once Pantheon has attacked or cast spells 4 times, he will block the next normal attack as long as it deals more then 40 damage to him.

Spear Shot (Active) – Hurls a spear at an opponent, dealing damage plus a percent of his attack in physical damage.

Aegis of Zeonia (Active) – Leaps at an enemy and shield bashes them, which also stuns them. Using this ability will instantly refresh his Aegis Protection.

Heartseeker Strike (Passive)Certain Death – 100% critical strike is gained against targets below 15% of their max health.

(Active) – Deals 5 swift strikes to those in front of him, dealing damage plus a percent of his weapon damage in physical damage per strike. This ability will deal double damage to enemy Champions.

Grand Skyfall (Active/Ultimate) – Pantheon will leap high into the air and crash down on a target area 1.5 seconds later. Will deal magic damage to units at the centre and slows them by 35% for 1 second. If channelling for this ability is cancelled, the cooldown is reduced to 10 seconds. This ability will ignore spell immunity buffs.

Kassadin The Void Walker

Kassadin is an assassin/mage/melee class, and is another extremely popular choice as a powerful Champion. A man that looked upon 'the Void', a place between worlds and dimensions. Seeing the horrors there changed him forever, and now he dedicates himself to protecting us from those things that scratch at the door.

Void Stone (Innate) – Kassadin can reduce his magic damage by 15% but transforms this damage into bonus attack speed. This lasts up to 4 seconds.

Null Sphere (Active) - An ethereal bolt of void energy is fired, which deals magic damage and silences the target for a few seconds.

Nether Blade (Passive) - Melee attacks restore Kassadin's mana. This effect will triple if used against Champions.

(Active) - Kassadin gains bonus armour penetration for 5 seconds.

Force Pulse (Active) - Kassadin draws energy from spells cast in his vicinity, each spell cast gives him a charge. Upon reaching 6 charges, Kassadin can use Force Pulse to deal out magic damage which slows his enemies in a cone in front of him. The effect lasts for 3 seconds.

Riftwalk (Active) - Kassadin will teleport to a nearby location, and deals magic damage to surrounding enemies. Each subsequent Riftwalk in the next 7 seconds costs another 100 mana and deals additional damage. The cost and damage can stack up to 10 times.

Kassadin Guide / Gameplay

The Beauty of Balance

The beauty of League of Legends is that the game is generally extremely well balanced. You don't really have OP Champions, you just have great players. Teamwork is often more important then anything else, and an understanding of the game mechanics and how to play AGAINST each of the Champions does away with the whole 'OP' scenario. The Champions I have listed here are four of the most popular Champs for Level 30 Team Ranked games. This does not mean they are the best, just that the top players enjoy their play-style. Champion trends will constantly be changing, for example my two personal favourite Champions are actually Nidalee and Ashe - none of the ones listed above.

It is easy to counter singed, but the topic is the most OP champ, for me the OP champ is AD carry Sion I think, because of his epic lifesteal, shield, damage and stun.

What about teemo even though hes squishy and no burst damage, his poison is crazy if there is a fed teemo on the enemy team, u guys are screwed, also akali her burst damage is crazy!!! hes also pretty tanky, Trynds also op attack speed tanky and his ult hes unstopabble. Twitch aint op he takes skill to play. Malphite, one of my fav champs, his combo and damage and tankiness is crazy, a very good intiatior, same with Volibear, his toss combo is so annoying, u walk into a brush and theres and volibear with his teammate there ur screwed!!!, 0k now the final champ that I think is op is.... Olaf, I hate that guy, his undertow can take away so fast, try to avoid solo topping against this guy.

Disagreed, I play Jax 1v1 a lot, he is really OP, like you said, but he can easily be killed by someone with good CC and a way to auto, like Tryn.

I have only one 1 out of 4 1v1 against Tryn as Jax.

please, no one is op, it is simply how you choose to play. The player chooses. if everyone in a match didn't buy items the whole game, then no one would be op. its simply the items, not the champs. don't be hating. you can build a champ any way you want, granted most of the time it wouldn't be effective but you could build an ad karthus if you wanted to. Anyways no champ is op. None. Play a game where no one buys items at all. And if a champ is truly op, then you'll be able to weed out the op champs instead of nerfing perfectly fine champs that are easy to play and happen to kill you fast. Srsly, don't hate. Love and Tolerate my fellow bronies and non-bronies. Love and tolerate. :)

From tanks: A good Ramus can turn the game on his own. really op.

From Fighters/Bruisers: Nasus, Irelia (a little farm and gg)

From AD: Tryndamere (he hurts a LOT and fears death NOT)

From AP: Karthus a bit (hurts all enemy team really bad even when dead)

Leblanc IS the most OP champion in League of Legends and has since her buff after she came out. Her low health doesn't even matter when she can manipulate the terrain around her. The only times I've seen a good Leblanc lose in my 2+ years of playing League is when her team is completely incompetent. I pray she gets nerfed every patch, but she never does.

Udyr will be awesome its just it takes time to build him up but tank him up and he can kick 3 champions ass at the same time

Yi isn't all that OP! He could easily be stopped by a Teemo. Le blanc is extremely OP but had low health.

And to BoB - I would certainly recommend Poppy for someone like you. You can go both off-tank, carry and ability power. If you like these kind of champs, try out Rumble or Olaf!

haha this is funny i think people up there said all the league of leagend champs.

every time i play with a champ i think he is a op.

is LoL is balanced 4 me

      anonym^^ 5 years ago

Well you cant call LOL balanced. Im level 30 and some things you see around arejust op. Watch this Kassa vid as example, even without heavy damage items Kassa owns Anivia.

Or WW heals enough, even witout items to hold a lane 1vs1 forever and can dive you with ult for ca 10 sec, enough to kill every character but tank and GP (oranges)

Fuck all you people that play op champs you ruin the game, I just played with a nidalee not even fed but if she hit me with her spear it did about 800 damage I mean WTF, if she can do that much not even fed all she has to do is build like a tank and she's unstoppable, and btw this damage was at about lvl 6! Lvl 6! No way!

      There is nothing op about pantheon, but he is a pro KS and should be nerfed 4rm lol ! Phreak, couldn't agree with you more ! `But i'd like to add something mals is very squishy both early and late esp when it's 2v1 ... karthus's requiem and fast cd for Q make him very op especially if he is fed and the fact that he can cast spells after being killed is cool! But i think Brand or Veigar is the best ap (Veigar the king of OP) his burst damage is sick ! MY top 3 ad would be Sion,trynd, yi and Ap veigar,karthus, Brand and tanks Rammus,nasus,amumu !!! but then again its not the character its the player (;

My personal experience is that master yi is way too op and needs to be nerfed. I just went 24-1 and had quadra kill with him today. Yesterday I had a game and went 31-4 with him. I have played 30+ games with him and my KD ratio with him is probably around 16-1. His skills are all very basic-- the strategy to play with him is basic-- and the only thing that counters him really is a good disable. I've played DotA for 5 years and started playing league of legends a couple months ago. My experience has been thus far that lol is full of nubs and op heroes like yi,ww, shaco, and jax that absolutely need to be nerfed.

what about le blanc? She is amazing, at lvl 6 with her mimic spell, she can kill easily, without any damage taken by herself. usually in average game i have 10-15 kills and the same score with assists.(sometimes 20-30 kills it depends on enemy team)

the most op is Yi although he is more dificult than is seems...a 18 lvl full geared yi is was you call "Bucher" !!!Whith skills that cd at every kill and ulty that reach 80% atk speed + phantom dancers with 2 thirsters , infinity , cleaver , berserkers is imposible to escape from just pray to be quick :-p

As i see the most op champs are yi bcuz high speed and strong hits, morde for shield, jax for hp and dodge and jump, xin for too fast killer, fiddle for 3 sec stun and no cd drain with loooong range, trynda bcuz ult doesn't have cd, kennen with good hp and huuuuuge dmg

      phreak 6 years ago

tomsum your definitely one of the noobs that play league of legends. I have no clue why you put ezreal on that list as he is very fragile and all of his skills are skill shots meaning that you cant actually use a spell without knowing that its gonna hit the target your aiming for. therefore all you need to do is one stun, silence, knockup, ect, to kill him. tryndamere for AD class is the most op champion late game, and karthus or malzahar are the most op champions in the AP class late game. Karthus because he can still attack people while hes dead, and malzahar because he is able to suppress with his ult, and also because his ult scales 120% ability power.

Vladimir definitely should be on that list. Sanguine pool is ridiculously op. Be untargetable for 2 seconds, dealing damage to people above you and healing yourself. Insane.
