The game that we all play and Love

Updated on September 5, 2012

The next best thing

After painstaking 6 years of playing dota and getting frustrated over it's community I started looking for something new to keep me busy. I didn't have to look far, because the game I found was not only based on Dota it is a far superior and advanced version of it. Ever since the game was created by Riot Games in 2009 it 's popularity was increasing rapidly, growing in millions. It was voted game of the year and it still holds it's place as the highest rated game ever to introduce itself in the MOBA world.

Fields of justice

For all those who are new to this, if you choose to play this kind of game you will not go wrong in your decision.

The game is situated in the world of Rune Terra on the island of Valoran where exist two factions, Demacia and Noxus.

These sworn enemies have been in two wars which caused it to be in peril plagued with natural disasters. After seeing the damage dealt they were forced to create an arena that will solve all political disputes in a magical world controlled by summoners, as their name states they summon their finest warriors to represent either side. This takes place in several places like The Twisted Treeline, The summoners rift, and the crystal scar, all equally challenging and fun.

The goal of the game is simple

Make your pick
Make your pick

When the game stars both teams start by selecting their representative champions that they control trough out the game in a very simple way using the keyboard and mouse. Every champion has 4 standard spells with a passive ability with two summoner spells that can change depending on the needs of the team. After champions have been selected the game starts on your selected field of justice. Each champion is given a lane he must protect from the opposing team to prevent them from destroying the precious structures like turrets inhibitors and the Nexus. Minion and champion kills give you gold that you can use to buy powerful items to make your champion stronger, you also gain gold slowly over time.

The objective for every team is to outsmart and outplay each-other until ones Nexus falls, that's when the game ends and depending on the win or lose you gain Influence points, they are the in game currency that you can use to buy runes and champions.

Just the video made me addicted to the game!

Pick the right ones and victory is that much closer!
Pick the right ones and victory is that much closer!

When you first start the game you are level 1, and slowly progress by earning experience points which make your account rise in power until you reach level 30.

Every level gives you one point that you can spend in your mastery tab. Like runes they are very useful in their own way, not only do they make your champion stronger depending on the task you give it, you can also experiment in your build decision and create a unique and obscure way to play a certain champion. Masteries are vital and their influence on the game is very important, if you by mistake select the wrong ones, your gameplay will change dramatically, not pleasant at all.

Runes are important!
Runes are important!

After gaining a certain amount of of in game currency you can spend it in the game shop. Runes are very useful because they make your champion stronger depending on their build. The fun part is, that you can make a champion who generally has a role of a tank, that means the muscle of the game into an off-tank with more damage than sustainability. It's job is to soak as much damage as he can and divert the attention of other players from the valuable team members, like the carry.

Careful experimentation and repetition will lead you in creating the perfect build for you favorite champion so you can play him in the way you find most satisfying.

The store

Look at all those champions
Look at all those champions

This game has built up it's reputation by being completely free from the start, which won a lot of fans.

Not only does the game provide free content it also gives you an option for custom modifications to your account, like cosmetic detail adjustment in the shape of Skins, experience and Influence point boosts that help you progress trough the game faster. You can obtain all these things by purchasing RIot Points.

They serve as currency that you can buy with real money and spend it on the above mentioned revenue.

It gives you a choice of a credit card, pay pal and sms payment methods. It's not terribly expensive, but it's definitely worth buying, I personally own a couple of legendary skins that make my champion look AWESOME.

What more can you ask of a game, completely free and has affordable riot points store prices.

My advice to you

Every now and then all of us have a bad day and we tend to be angry for the tiniest thing. It doesn't matter how bad your game is the most important thing you can do is not say anything, if it helps just ignore everyone and play in silence if it's that bad, don't ruing other people's games.

This is coming from someone who tends to get frustrated by the smallest mistake anyone makes, I mean why would you go SOLO LOOK AT THE DAMN MINI MAP!

Avoid this at all cost because it will significantly lower your chances of victory, after all the opposing team is still human, and as we all know we are not perfect...they will eventually make mistakes.

Hope this helps.

Greetings Summoners :)
