Minecraft Tips for Parents
Minecraft Question
Does anyone in your household play Minecraft?
What Is Minecraft?
Minecraft is a computer game where you mine (break) blocks and place the blocks to build other things. You also combine (craft) the things you mine to build new things.
According to the Minecraft website, as of March 12, 2015, almost 19 million people have purchased the PC/Mac version of this game.
To kids, it's a fun game. To parents, it can be a little confusing, and it can leave you wondering if your children are safe playing it.
IS Minecraft Safe?
That's a question that's a little complicated to answer, because the game in itself is safe.
Overall, the game is safe, it's just mining and creating an imaginary world. The potential for danger lies in the different servers children visit, where they can talk to strangers.
Some schools and parents help to increase the game's safety level by setting up a private server, and anyone can do this for their children and a few friends, too, for a fairly low cost.
Minecraft Tips for Parents
If your children love this game, one of the best things you can do is educate yourself about it - which you probably already thought of, if you're here reading this.
Set up your own Minecraft account, and give the game a try.
Let your children turn the tables a little, and have them teach you how to play: it's a great confidence booster for them, and a bonding experience that gives you both great memories to enjoy for years to come.
