Pirate101 Minigame Guide: Coin Drop
Drop coins and match up three or more of the same color to remove them from the board, score points, and prevent your coin tower from hitting the foul line. Matching higher number of coins and executing combo matches will score more points. Score enough points before the platform raises your coin stack past the foul line to move on to the next level.
Stick to simple three-three 2-chains, as well as four to six matches. Combo chains and higher coin matches give more points and fill the bonus time gauge faster than if you only match threes repeatedly. More ambitious combo chains and matches might promise better points are not advisable because of the time and space restrictions.
Stacking Vertically. As much as possible, do not stack vertically. It is almost always better to drop a coin beside its match instead of on top of it.
Stacking Diagonally. Diagonal stacking, or stacking a coin on top of two other coins, should be avoided. It is not an efficient use of space and can single-handedly block whole rows of coins from being cleared.
Scanning Only the Top Coins for Matches. Make sure to check the lower layers of the stacks for pairs of same-colored coins. Sometimes, the best strategy is to clear the stack from the bottom-up.
Obsessing on Elaborate Combos. While you may get bragging rights for pulling off a 4-chain combo, it is not the ideal method for winning prizes and Gold in Coin Drop. There is simply not a lot of space for you to work with. If it will take you more than ten coin drops to pull off a combo, or more than half your screen is already filled with coins, then you should be more realistic and start clearing the stack.
Low Clicking and No Two-Hand Coordination. Among all the minigames in Pirate101, this requires the least amount of mouse clicking. Also, one hand is all you need to play this game.
Gear rewards begin at level 4. Higher levels will reward ship gear upgrades, as well as additional Gold amount and blue potion refills.
Match without a Chain Combo
- 3 coins of the same color– 3 points per coin
- 4x – 5 points per coin
- 5x – 7 points per coin
- 6x – 8 points per coin
- 7x – 9 points per coin
- 8x – 10 points per coin
Match after 1-Chain Combo (3 coins)*
- 3 coins of the same color – 8 points per coin
- 4x – 9 points per coin
- 5x – 11 points per coin
- 6x – 12 points per coin
*Points per coin increases by 1 for every 1 additional coin in the previous combo. For example, if the previous combo had six coins, then a 3 coin combo match will earn 11 points per coin instead of the usual 8 points per coin.
Match after 2-Chain Combo
- coins of the same color – 11 points per coin
