The long-awaited PlayStation 5 release is around the corner. People have been saving money and Children hinting to their parents about it.

With the official design images and specs already out, everybody is itching to get their hands on the new PlayStation 5. Sony has set to launch the gaming console during the holidays but has not revealed a specific date. Speculation has it that they will do it in mid-November. The price is also anyone's guess but a rough estimate would put it between 550$ and 600$.

In case you missed it, here is the PlayStation 5 hardware release video.

The Playstation 5 features a white and black color combination and comes in two variants, one with an optical drive and another without the optical drive called the Pure Digital Edition. The variant with the optical drive will be more expensive than the one without. Sony has also announced that they will be launching accessories for the PS5 which include a new HD camera, a media remote, a Pulse 3D wireless headset, and a DualSense Charging Station for their new DualSense Controller. The PS5 can be placed horizontally or vertically thanks to the new stand that works for both orientations.

The PlayStation 5 will come with a new Dual Sense Controller. The new design features a back and white dual-tone, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers on the L2 and R2 buttons.

Haptic feedback allows users to feel what is happening on their gaming screens through their gaming controllers, for example, the controller will vibrate when you are driving on a dirt road. Sony says that the haptic feedback in the new controller is not just the normal rumble found in gaming controllers. The new controller has newly designed vibration motors that are capable of spinning at different speeds and durations hence providing precise sensations. The adaptive triggers on L2 and R2 will offer different levels of resistance while gaming, for example, a user will feel different levels of resistance while firing different guns. Sony has also repositioned the L2 and R2 buttons to improve the grip

There is no share button like in the DualShock4 but Sony has included a new Create button that will serve the same function and even do more. Sony has dropped the DualShock gamepad and promises the new DualSense will further engage the senses of gamers and developers of PS5 games are taking advantage of this. Although all details have not been confirmed it sure seems the new design is going to be revolutionary. The new controller will also feature a Type-C USB Port, touchpad, internal-speaker, in-built microphone, and light pad.

Backward Compatibility.

The new PS5 console will be able to play a selected number of PS4 games. According to the official PlayStation Blog, games are being evaluated on a title-by-title basis to help identify compatibility issues. The PlayStation Blog also says that only the top 100 games played by PS4 gamers will be backward compatible when the PS5 launches. People have also asked about the compatibility of PS4 accessories with the PS5 console and Sony has confirmed that some of them will be. The list of PS4 accessories compatible with PS5 can be classified into two.

1.PS4 accessories which work with PS5 and PS4 games:

  • Officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks
  • Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets
  • Third-party headsets which connect via the USB port or audio jack

2.PS4 accessories which will work only with PS4 games on PS5:

  • DualShock 4
  • Officially licensed third-party PS4 controllers
  • PS Move controllers for supported PSVR games
  • PlayStation VR Aim Controller for supported PSVR games
  • PlayStation Camera for supported PSVR games, adaptor required

As we await the release of the PlayStation 5 we already have a feel of what's to come, we can only hope that the remaining secrets are only going to make the PlayStation 5 even better.
