Preview Of Fallout New Vegas

Updated on June 25, 2010

2008's Fallout 3 was for some one of the best role playing games ever produced with a dark and deeply disturbing yet facsinating storyline and involving characters it was everything you could want from that sort of game.

Obviously as the title suggests the new game is set in las vegas only after the nuclear holocaust, everything isn't quite as glitzy and glamorous as it once was,the vegas strip is still intact but offers only danger or gambling,as for the desert outside that is a place only for the bold. The game picks up 3 years after the events of fallout 3 but that's where the similarities end, sure the game plays the same but the events that occur and the storyline has nothing to do with its predecessor. The nuclear fallout hasn't destroyed everything, you can still explore the vegas strip the Mojave desert if you so wish or the hoover dam (whats left of it).

You start out as a delivery boy who gets shot in the head because certain people didnt want you to make your delivery and you are left to die in the desert, you are rescued by of all things a doctor who nurses you back to health and this is when you get the chance to optimise your character and set all your facial features and characteristics. If your a rookie then you can get the chance to have some tests and get used to it,or if your a seasoned fallout player such as myself!!! then you can jump straight into the action.

There are twice as many weapons as the first game but not only that there are now options to further enhance those weapons by utilising add ons, scopes, extra mags or special ammo to increase your ability to kill. The companion wheel makes another appearance as there are certainly going to be more new characters that wish to join you on your quests.Once again the karma is back and you are free to be as good or as evil as you wish but people in different towns will react to you depending on which way you will swing.

In short the game is an exciting updated version of fallout 3,however the graphics although slightly polished are still using the same graphics models and it is starting to show, that aside it is a brilliant game and will be well received when it is released in October 2010.
