Profitable Hobbies

Updated on June 16, 2012

Craft Cash

There are so many crafty hobbies that you can profit from and have fun with. One of my hobbies is making boat model kits and selling them when I complete them. Also I make contemporary & digital art and sell pieces at times. You can make a craft out of nearly anything and could even consider it a work of art. You can create a web store and sell your crafts/art on Ebay. Below is 3 craft ideas with a low investment and high profit rate. I will be adding more so bookmark my Hub. I cover model kits, craft sticks and pet rock art.

Model Kits

Model Kits can be plastic, wood, and paper versions of cars, boats, houses, airplanes, boats, animals, movie paraphernalia, etc.. The finished product when done right can be profitable as there are collector's always collecting the finished product.

Here are some companies for buying model kits

1. Revell - airplanes, boats

2. Scale Hobbyist - buildings, houses, artillery, scenery

3. Hobby Linc airplanes, rockets, hobbies

Here's some examples ready made products

Craft Sticks

Another could be profitable hobby is making figures or art out of craft sticks. The skill is one to perfect but once you get the hang of it, it'll be fast and easy. With craft sticks you can make unique boxes, photo frames, waste baskets, jewelry boxes, lamps and so much more. Also craft sticks are inexpensive and can make for a great profit margin. There are plenty of craft stick kits with directions on how to make certain things.

Here are some links to websites with great craft sticking ideas:

Pet Rock Art

Pet rock art is rare. It's a new age art and is catching on with time. There are some masterpieces floating around the internet for a reasonable price. The investment is low. Rocks are everywhere for free, all you need is painting supplies and a little time to get started. Since it's art you can sell on websites like Etsy easily.

This is pretty neat, but I would love to know how to find these finished products online - such as under what category would they be sold, especially the plastic models. I used to make things all the time and if I could make some money doing that, I would spend time on it again. Do you have any links to your digital art?

That's great that you are able to make money off your hobbies. I often find that the price people are willing to pay doesn't cover the price of the material and my time in making it. Your crafts are amazing. I especially liked the houses.
