Rpg with an action twist Star Ocean

Star Ocean Gameplay
Star Ocean is an rpg consisting of much more then just your common elements. Whether we're talking about the original game or the one of the sequels, the gameplay is unbelievably fun and addicting. Now for those who have played rpg's it is common for us to run into the same grind every time. Level up beat enemies until leveled up high enough to defeat the boss. This will continue in a continuous succession in many rpgs. What makes StarOcean different is it deviates enough from this model that you could be completely unprepared for a boss and win. Now this is going to be extremely difficult but it is possible. You see your not just set with pressing the attack button or defend button. You have actual ability to run around as your character and fight with very action based abilities. Now this is not an action game with rpg elements. This is an rpg with action elements. Gameplay is one of the most important pieces of an Rpg. Honestly being able to give just enough action to an rpg allows the player to have a different experience every time that player enters a battle. Now we have all had to run through a forest or plains area. Basically, what I'm getting at is that in your average rpg the random encounters can be so tedious. At a certain point it almost feels like your fighting the same battle over and over again. Star Ocean makes it so no fight ends in the same manner. There is enough action to where you can feel like every battle varies from the last. There is a strong level of character development too. The game play overall is impressive and no matter which game you play you will be impressed with its level of fun. As a genre this group of games is never a let down.

Star Ocean style of game
Star Ocean as a game has always crossed to powerful genres. The game is very fantasy based as it will make you feel that medieval feeling you get with most rpgs. However, the game is mixed with an extreme amount of science fiction. Basically the game takes places In other worlds and consists of spaceships and a lot futuristic weapons. The game itself is a beautiful mix of these two styles and creates a powerful innovative and original story. Quite frankly the game has an intense story. I mean from the moment you begin you are thrown for many twists and turns. These types of rpgs are quite epic in length and really the character development is stunning. The powerful dialogue creates true empathy for the characters in the game. You'll feel very connected some and really wait for each twist and turn to go by. Picture each world feels almost like it's own rpg game. The content is good and even the voice work is very good. Usually voice work in Jrpgs when brought over to the USA is kind of lacking. Every Star Ocean game that has voice over work is quite good.

Star Ocean compared to other rpgs
Compared to other rpgs this game just has so much more in almost every way in comparison to most rpgs. Many rpgs are just slated and shipped out in what seems like a money making move. Rpgs a lot of times feel like they have been prematurely presented in the common rpg layout. Seeing that they usually use the same format which is story random encounter boss, sometimes It just feels like its really underdeveloped. That format is great, though it might seems simple. However, in order for that format to work it was must presented in well developed scheme. some game seem to just follow the motions. Games of the Star Ocean series capitalize on all aspects that make an rpg great. The gameplay is extremely entertaining and does not get boring. The story makes even the most drawn out unnecessary parts of these games feel interesting just to get to the next event. With stories this well written its surprising these games haven't been made into other forms of media like novels. I have to rpg veterans and new gamers to the rpg world will love and enjoy any Star Ocean game. If you have some time to play it you will not be disappointed.
