Skyrim Dragonborn: How to Start & Find Temple of Miraak

Updated on December 12, 2012

Dragonborn is the new DLC content for Elder Scrolls Skyrim. It released on Xbox 360 marketplace on December 4th, 2012. Dragonborn DLC will also be available for PS3 and PC owners. The first DLC content titled "Dawnguard," never released on the PS3 version. Bethesda had some type of technical issues porting it to the PS3. However, Dragonborn DLC should release to PS3 in early 2013.

In order to start the Dragonborn DLC, you have to be so far in Skyrim's main quest. You have to complete the Way of the Voice Main Quest mission, although some players have commented that you need to complete the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller.

If you have already completed Skyrim's Main Quest or are very far in it, you should get approached by a group of Cultists. Depending on where you are will dictate where they approach you. If you fast travel to a city they should approach you right away. Otherwise the Cultists will locate you during your travels through Skyrim.

The Cultists will ask you if you are Dragonborn. You will have three different responses to choose from, but it does not matter which you pick (the result is the same they attack). The Cultists basically say you are not a true Dragonborn and then they attack you. Kill the Cultists and loot one of them. Look for a note that says Cultists's orders. This gives you a marker telling you to go to the Windhelm Docks. Travel there.Speak to the man sitting on the boat. He refuses to go back to Solstheim initially, however, you can either pay him 500 gold, persuade him, or intimidate him and he will take you to Solstheim.

Once you arrive in Solstheim you will be at Raven Rock. A man should approach you and talk to you about your arrival. However, there are some glitches in Dragonborn and you may not be approached at all. If you ask the people of Raven Rock about Miraak they often say that it sounds familiar, but can't place it.

Finding the Temple of Miraak in Solstheim

Look for the Earth Stone next to Raven Rock. There will be a green light casting out to the sky. There will also be several people working around the Earth Stone. Speak to a man named Neloth who gives you the location of the Temple of Miraak. This is in the center of the map in Solstheim. Travel there and you will have completed the first mission in the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC.

Note: It is possible to start the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC by simply traveling to the Windhelm docks and speaking to the man on the boat, instead of waiting for the Cultists to attack you.
