May the "PINS" be with you!

The Star Wars community held its 2017 fan convention on April 13th-16th in Orlando, FL at the Orlando Convention Center (OCC). I was in attendance, and it was great to see people collect anything and everything related to Star Wars: autographs, Funko Pop bobbleheads, action figures, helmets, toys and of course pins!

Similar to Disney pin trading, Star Wars fans love to acquire and trade pins as well. 40 "official" convention pins were offered with art by Derek Laufman. One pin each to signify the 40th anniversary of Star Wars on May 25, 2017.

Prior to Star Wars Celebration 2017, three pin sets of 2-pins each were offered for purchase (6 different pins). Each convention badge holder could purchase up to 5 of each set. Why buy more than one set? Good question! Answer...TRADE BAIT! Since these sets were limited in quantity, badge holders used extra sets to trade for other pins they needed. What 6 pins were avilable for prior to the convention?

Only love for the Original Trilogy?

As you can see from the above images, Derek Laufman did an outstanding job on the artwork for these pin sets. The artwork really captures a positive image of each character. However, I found it interesting that the only pins for preorder before Celebration were characters from the original trilogy. I would have liked to see a more diverse set of character pins, perhaps representing the original trilogy, prequel trilogy and animated tv shows. However, these pins would later be available for sale at the convention in April.

Details on these 3 sets offered:
