The Ladybird Balloon
I have been a balloon artist for over five years now. I still remember when i first started this amazing career as a fundraiser for my charity. I had no idea of how to make balloon scupltures, but with a lot of perseverance practicing with a bunch of wholesale balloons, i managed to learn a few animal figures. With time, i have learned a lot more and am now able to do them with speed and accuracy.
This opened a new horizon to me, as i was able to reach big audiences in shopping malls and schools and the children always wanted more. I was always doing balloon flowers for the moms, doggies for the little girls and swords for the little boys and it was getting boring, so i expanded my horizons to tigers, giraffes, bunnies, Disney related characters, etc.
One day a teenager asked me for a bug balloon. I thought for a moment, for i did not have any bugs in my repertoire and then the light went on in my mind: A simple ladybird would do it!
I put on my creative mode and started twisting a red balloon till the first ladybug was made. I added a pair of black balloon antennas and painted the little smily face and three black dogs on each side of the back. I gave it to the girl and she was very pleased, but she did not know what to do with it, so it thought a bit and came out with the idea of using it as a bracelet.
I did a few more twists here and there, added half an uninflated balloon to it, made a loop and my first ladybug bracelet was done! The teen ran away with her new ladybug balloon bracelet flashing on her arm and went to show it to her friends. Soon other kids came asking for more Ladybugs.
I make them in all colors and shapes. Little girls and big girls put the ladybirds on their wrists or use them as hair elastics. Everyone loves them!
