Top 10 PC fps games

Updated on February 9, 2016

There are basically 2 kinds of first person shooter games: The classic type and role-playing first person shooter games. The second kind has plenty of shooting action, but you also need to solve puzzles and talk to people. We have both types in our list of top 10 PC fps games.

Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead isn't just the best zombie first person shooter. It is the best fps bar none.

The graphics are amazing, the tone of the game is spooky and it delivers the very best action! It is quite simply a survival horror masterpiece.

The co-op mode is highly recommended, gang up with 3 friends and face the zombie apocalypse.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

COD Modern Warfare 2 is the best selling fps game today. They really have mastered bringing the action of modern warfare to the PC, in all it's gritty detail.

You play as Sgt. Gary "Roach" Sanderson, leading a squad of elite solders. You will deploy in far flung locations like Siberia and Rio. Your mission is to stop a ruthless new terrorist organization from taking over.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

This is definitely the best western FPS game at the moment. It's a prequel to the original 2007 Call of Juarez.

The original game had issues with the AI and the stealth missions. This has all been fix in the 2009 prequel. Gone are the stealth missions, replaced with relentless action.

Once you're done with the single player you can take it online and take on some human players.

For me the best part of the game was that it really made me feel like I was in the old West.

Borderlands

Borderlands is a roleplaying fps.The game is set on the wasteland planet of Pandora. The only thing of value on Pandora is the famous Vault. A cache of alien technology and treasure.

The thing about borderlands is that it's a little slow, if you play it alone. Either get a couple of friends to play with you or go online and find someone there.

Playing with 3 other people picks up the pace and makes it much more rewarding.

Section 8

Section 8 is a training facility for futuristic marines. The single player is mostly a tutorial.

Where Section 8 is when you go online and play with 31 other fps gamers. The multiplayer levels are great fun and will keep you coming back for more.

The game made me nostalgic for Quake.

Resident Evil 5

Resident evil helped to define the first person survival horror genre.

The fifth installment builds on the previous games with a fun, collaborative experience which will keep you on your toes through the entire game.

Red Faction Guerrilla

This game is set on Mars. The people are rebelling against an evil company and you are a guerrilla leader out to stick it to the man.

In Red Faction they have done a great job of creating the environment. You can drive the construction and military vehicles you find and destroy just about everything, including the buildings.

I found the nano-rifle to be a very interesting idea. It shoots a projectile loaded with nanites which kinda dissolves anything it hits: vehicles, buildings or people.

Arma 2

Arma is a very hardcore and unforgiving fps. You can die very easily. Having said that the game has a lot going for it.

Playing a co-op mission with your friends is totally engrossing. The sound effects are generally excellent. Moving your head independently from your body makes the game feel much more real. Arma has great graphics and the scope of the game is huge.
