Updated on February 25, 2013

What Is Family Game Night?

Family game night is a scheduled night each week when your family gets together to play board games together. It is a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with the family. It gives you a chance to interact with each other and share good times. Families that play together stay together.

Children grow up so fast and before you know it they're out the door doing their own thing. Give yourself more time with your children before childhood slips away. Make family game night a tradition in your home. You will make wonderful family memories.

Family Game Night Games

Our family has had family game nights for years. We all like many types of board games and card games. It is a fun time to get together once a week to play games and just hang out as a family. I am recommending our top ten games for your family game night.

Family Game Night: Monopoly

The classic board game Monopoly is manufactured by Parker Brothers. Monopoly first came out in 1934 and has been popular since then.

The original Monopoly is based on the city of Atlanctic City, New Jersey. Players get to buy and sell property, pay fees, go to jail and build hotels in the quest to win with the most money.

Each letter has a point value and a players scores points for the total point value of their word which also depends on where you place your letters on the game board.

Family Game Night: Life

Journey through the game of Life by traveling in a car, getting married, having children and collecting paydays. The game of Sorry is for 4 players and involves getting all game tokens of your color around the board game and into your safe zone. Family Game Night: Trivia Pursuit

Trivial Pursuit is the great trivia game where you have to get questions correct in each category to get that color pie. Once you fill up your playing piece with each colored pie piece you need then you win. In the game of Scattergories you fill out columns of words based on the starting letter. For example if the letter you roll is a T then each word int he specific category has to start with the letter T. The game is timed so you may not be able to think of a word for each category.
