World of Warcraft: WoD; Best 3 Healing Classes

Updated on November 7, 2015

Healer Briefing

As we all know niches have been implemented into this expansion pack of World of Warcraft. I'll be giving you the strengths and weaknesses of each mentioned class and I will give you a brief description on how to effectively use the specialized niche.

Holy Paladin

Holy Paladin Summary

Paladin's niche is hands down tank healer. Even though the Paladin class has always had this type of niche, it has really been amplified in the current expansion pack.

Strengths

  • Fantastic tank healers. The Beacon of Light, that is widely used by holy paladins, allows the tank to be passively healed (both tanks if you talent into it) while you continue to heal the group.
  • Spot healing. Great for spot healing during heavy damage periods, again because of that passive heal on your tanks. Paladins are great to relieve stress for other healers during an encounter.

Weaknesses

  • Area of Effect healing is awful. Not saying they can't do it, but paladin's AoE abilities aren't efficient enough to get the job done. The effectiveness of the abilities are great, but as far as mana cost goes, don't use it unless it is absolutely necessary.
  • Variety isn't there at all. Paladins kind of got the short stick when it came to tidying up moves when they cut out a lot of abilities for the WoD expansion. I suppose it's good as far as learning quickly, but your rotation is small.

Holy Priest Summary

Now Holy Priests are your all around healers. They can spot, tank, and raid heal and that is what their niche is. When it comes to tank healing they're no paladins, but they definitely have the tools and abilities to do the job productively.

Strengths

  • Strong heals which allow for heavy damage periods to be mitigated.
  • Well rounded healers, able to achieve multiple roles such as: tank, spot, and/or raid healing.
  • The diversity of the abilities will keep you entertained throughout the long boss battles.

Weaknesses

  • Heavy mana consumption, so you really have to choose your abilities wisely during boss fights otherwise you'll be in a whole lot of trouble halfway through.
  • Not a lot of mobilities. Don't get me wrong they have mobility, but when compared to other healing classes they are lagging behind just a bit.

Restoration Druid

This is my restoration Druid from WoD, only a level 92, but the experience came from Mist of Pandaria (MoP). Also, yes. My account is no longer active at the moment due to the down time of the WoW season.

Restoration Druid Summary

Druid's niche is definitely raid healing. With their healing over times (HoTs) they're free to throw heals on everyone that is anyone. This provides a great burst of heals all around the raid which is what makes druids so effective. They can relieve the stresses of high damage to a lot of people for the other classes.

Strengths

  • Has the ability to heal multiple people in a small amount of time which is excellent for raiding during high damage periods of boss encounters.
  • Not really heavy on the mana consumption and has a really great diversity when it comes to abilities.
  • Great with mana when talking about consumption. They're not difficult to manage a effective rotation
  • VERY mobile, but of course we all knew that.

Weaknesses

  • With druids being a primary raid healer, doing any other healing outside their niche is difficult, but not impossible.
  • Does not have a lot of strong burst heals due to they are mainly healing over time (HoT) healers and not so much direct heals.
  • Another problem with HoTs are that they have to be timed correctly. So if you see somebody below 15% health and you throw a HoT as more damage is coming in, you might as well let that toon drop. The HoTs are very powerful when timed correctly.

Overall Summary

As mentioned, this is just a brief summary of the strengths and weaknesses of each of the top three healing classes in Warlords of Draenor (WoD) and subjected to change from hotfix to hotfix. If you are not any of the mentioned class do not fret! All healers are absolutely important to the game, and just because your class isn't mentioned here does not mean it is a substandard choice. If you all are really trying to get into depth with your class's information then definitely check out some of the major World of Warcraft (WoW) informational websites.
