Totems of Hircine (Skyrim mission walkthrough).

To start the skyrim mission Totems of Hircine, you need to speak to Aela the Hunteress after having finished the main questline for the Companions (the final mission is Glory of the Dead). Aela will ask you if you want to join her in the quest for finding the three totems of Hircine; which are hidden in various parts of Skyrim. These totems of Hircine will make you stronger as a werewolf by granting you one special beast power per found totem, however, you may only have one of them active at any given time.

A) Finding the first totem of Hircine (located in Greywater Gorge aka Sunderstone Gorge, south of Rorikstead):

Mission objectives:

1. - Retrieve the totem of Hircine

2. - Take the totem to the Underforge

1. Retrieve the totem of Hircine

There are three totems of Hircine, each giving you special abilities for when you are in werewolf form. The first totem is located in Greywater / Sunderstone Gorge, south of Rorikstead, west of Whiterun stables. This first totem will be the most challenging to get to, due to the amount of foes standing in your way; the opposition you will meet are primarily wizards, so adding some fire resistance enchantments to your equipment before entering may be smart. All pretty straight forward really, but one thing to note is the location of the masterchest; as it is always packed with valuable loot in the form of weapons, jewelry, gems or similar. It is located in the 'jail room' of Sunderstone Gorge, where you will fight two wizards. It is hidden in the dark, so equip a torch to see it; next to rocks, next to a statue/monument.

2. Take the totem to the Underforge.

After you have retrieved the totem you should return to the Underforge, where you will place the totem on a mantel. This totem may now be prayed to, and will in return give you the special werewolf power called 'hunt', this power allows you to illuminate your foes in a red glare, making it easy to see where your enemies are hiding.

Rewards (First totem of Hircine):

- New werewolf special power: Hunt. This power gives your enemies a red glare, even at nighttime, making them easy to see and thus easier to hunt down.

B ) Finding the second totem of Hircine (located in Boulderfall Cave, northwest of Riften and west of Shor's stone):

Mission objectives:

1. - Retrieve the totem of Hircine

2. - Take the totem to the Underforge

1. Retrieve the totem of Hircine

The second totem of Hircine is much easier to get, compared with the first one; as only two necromancers stand in your way; one apprentice- and one master. Defeat them both and grab the totem of Hircine.

2. Take the totem to the Underforge

Return the totem to the Underforge, in Whiterun. Once the totem is placed upon its pedestal, you will be given the special werewolf power called 'brotherhood', this is the be(a)st of the three special powers and summons two strong wolves to fight by your side in times of need.

Rewards (Second totem of Hircine):

- New werewolf special power: Hunt. This power gives your enemies a red glare, even at nighttime, making them easy to see and thus easier to hunt down.

C) Finding the third totem of Hircine (located in Cragwallow Slope, southeast of Windhelm and directly south of Gloombound Mine):

Mission objectives:

1. - Retrieve the totem of Hircine

2. - Take the totem to the Underforge

1. Retrieve the totem of Hircine

The third totem can be found in Cragwallow Slope, and is like the others, guarded by powerful wizards, witches and necromancers. At the end of dungeon you will meet a very powerful wizard and his ice atronach, so approach with care; and be ready for one hell of a fight. Once you have defeated them both (eventually), you will find the third and final totem in a nearby chest.

2. Take the totem to the Underforge.

Return to the Underforge, and place the totem in its designated place. Hircine will reward you with the special beast power called fear.

Rewards (Third totem of Hircine):

- New werewolf special power: fear. This power strikes fear in the heart of your enemies, making them flee from combat.
