Year Walk - Complete Steam Achievement Guide
Foreword
There are a total of 10 achievements for Year Walk on Steam and of course I will tell you how to get all of them in this guide. Some of them aren't hard, I think I unlocked half of the achievements on my first play-through and of course that's cause I was so stupid that I didn't even realize that this game has a map. Long story short, I got lost... A LOT, but hey I got an achievement so I at least have that going for me. Anyway! on to the guide.
Achievement: Logo Type
- A three letter word in the dark. Without it, it's silent.
Easy! When you start the game, right after Stina sends you home and you're required to click around the screen to reveal the logo "Year Walk" instead of randomly clicking around reveal the word "ear" first to gain this achievement.
Achievement: No Clues
- Do a full Year Walk without clues.
This one is one of the easiest, basically you just have to finish the game without ever touching that hint button at the top left corner of the page.
Achievement: Lost
- Do a full Year Walk without looking at the map.
Not as easy if you're playing this game for the first time, I would recommend that you try this one after playing through the game at least once. Why? cause you're absolutely going to get lost in that frozen wasteland of a forest.
Achievement: Year Run
- Do a full Year Walk in 20 minutes.
Also not that hard, unless you're playing Year Walk for the first time without a guide then it's plain impossible to do.
Achievement: Cheat Walk
- Do a full Year Walk without uncovering the secret of the rune and doll. The grim will visit your dreams.
This one, I'm not sure as whether you can get this achievement and the Digital Rune achievement at the same time as I believe that you're asked not to touch the rune at all on this achievement. But basically you only need to leave the dancing doll and the rune stone alone and since you're going to do that, here's the code for each of them:
- Owl puzzle (Dancing Doll): Left, Right, Left, Right, Right, Right, Left, Left
- Church Door (Rune Stone): Left, Right, Left, Right, Right, Left, Right
Achievement: Digital Rune
- A mysteriously modern rune.
Well it's an ambiguous one, you're not told what you need to do and as previously mentioned I do not know if this can be achieved at the same play-through as the Cheat Walk achievement. For this achievement you will need to make a number 8 on the rune stone. You can do that by clicking on each of the buttons so they will light up.
Achievement: Clockwise Minute Box
- 48, 30, 42, 30, 18
No, it's not math. This is supposed to be punched into that wooden box that you find the notes inside. They are actually time coordinates, each number corresponds to a minute in the clock. Meaning follow this to get the achievement:
- The upside down triangle
- The diamond
- The Circle
- The diamond again
- Top half of a circle
Achievement: Owl 6
- The owls sing a song that they learned in the lobby of a castle on a remote island.
Kudos to Mr. Cassel of Steam for this one. As this is the only one that I could not find even after trying for a couple of days and spending hours looking for a possible clue, which of course Simogo was evil enough cause apparently the solution is in another game made by Simogo.
On the tree after finding the Huldra, instead of entering the code from the doll. You should enter:
- Left
- Right
- Right
- Left
- Left
- Left
- Right
- Left
- Right
- Left
Again credits to Mr. Cassel for this.
Achievement: Watchers' Stone Cryptograph
-
MYL1NGBRO0KHORSEN1GHTRAVENHULDR4
For this achievement you'll once again have to ignore the code that the game has given you and instead punch in the numbers:
- Huldra - 4 dots
- Brook Horse - No dots
- Myling - 1 dot
- Night Raven - 1 dot
Achievement: New Year
- Year Walk on New Year's eve.
Self-explanatory, but seasonal and I don't know whether you have to follow a certain world time or it's based on your computer's time. I'll try that out and update this if it works.
