Review: My Auron Play Arts Action Figure (Final Fantasy X)

Updated on February 10, 2015

Sir Auron Action Figure Looks Fantastic

I finally bought the Auron Play Arts Action Figure owned by some of my fellow Final Fantasy X fans, and all I can say is: drool.

I'm not an expert collector, but as a diehard fan of the Final Fantasy series, I am happy to have Sir Auron standing guard over my workstation and looking like his usual grumpy badass self.

As far as I can see -- and I am embarrassingly familiar with Auron's costume, having made a gazillion Auron avatars and icons -- the only mistake is that his good eye is painted more gray than brown. In fact, this Auron action figure's details are so clear that it answered a common FFX fan trivia question: what's in the jug?

Here's my Auron figure on my dining room table. See my Auron action figure photo gallery below for some great close-ups! (And when you're done, check out my fan page on Auron-- I guarantee you'll learn something about him you didn't know before.)

My review of my desk buddy

Auron Play Arts Action Figure

This 8.3" Play Arts Auron Action Figure is a great collector's item and a fun toy for Final Fantasy X fans. It includes excellent detailing, from the green-and-red leather wrap on his katana hilt right down to the gold medallions on his boots (bet you never even noticed them in game). The face is a good portrait. Fine detailing includes various leather straps and studs, flexible tassel, jug, beads, gauntlet, and more.

Auron's right arm comes out -- with some difficulty; they didn't want it to fall off -- and can be replaced with a second version tucked inside his coat. The sword is a separate piece.

➤ Buy on Amazon

Buyer's Note: I bought mine on Amazon, seller Aeon Toys, and it arrived promptly and well-packaged.

Durability Issue?

Handle your Auron action figure with care, as some reviewers have reported weakness in the right arm and knee.

I do have a slightly loose right wrist on mine, but assumed it was from forcing the hands together for a dramatic sword-grip.

If he gets wobbly, a stand is included.

Auron for sale on eBay - ...that just sounds wrong.

Poor Auron. Killed, forced to work in a Disney flick, chibified, and now we're buying and selling him on the Interwebs. Doesn't the old guy ever get a break?
