why wii was developed with graphically inferior potential?

If it is capable of better graphics it is the clear winner.

Microsoft and Sony were developing their next gen machines and were already talking about HD graphics - at the time Nintendo was already losing the console wars so they decided to go for something different. Rather than concentrate on the visuals, they decided to work on 'motion control' which makes the console more fun to play but also more accessible to the family.

It was a huge success - I'm sure we'll see a WII 2 with HD graphics eventually, especially when Project Natal and Sony's wand come out next year.

Because people who buy Wiis don't care about graphics. If they did, they wouldn't buy a Wii. I personally, tried a Wii and really didn't like it. My sister, on the other hand, loved it! (shes 9) I enjoy my ps3 a lot more and I hate actually moving to play the game. I play video games to relax, not exercise.
