Harry Potter Wizard Chess Set

The Harry Potter Wizard Chess set was introduced in 2002 and retired shortly thereafter, making it a collectible. The extra durable plastic chess pieces are replica's of the chess pieces seen in Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone. The heavy duty fold out chess board depicts the same colors as the chess board in the movie.

Although this Harry Potter Wizard Chess Set was created to be played with by children, the fact that it's a collectible gives it a higher price tag. If you're looking for cheaper Harry Potter Wizard Chess Sets for your children to play with, scroll just a little further down and you'll find a non-collectors set that's more reasonably priced.

A cheap Harry Potter Wizard Chess Set

This is a remake of the chess set pictured above. Basically, it's the exact same set, made at a later date so it's not considered a collectible and therefor, it's nowhere near as expensive. If you're shopping for a Harry Potter chess set for your kids, this is the chess set you want.

Harry Potter Final Challenge Chess Set

This chess set lets you recreate "The Final Challenge" from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The chess pieces are made of die cast zinc and are exact replica's of the chess pieces in the movie. They are exquisitely detailed and range in height from 2 1/2 to 5 1/2 inches. Although durable, care needs to be taken with certain pieces such as the knight's weapon, the bishop's staff, and the shields

The chess board measures 20 x 20 x 3 inches and weighs around 13 pounds. It has detailed metal legs and borders that hold the faux marble covered plexiglass board.

Harry Potter in Quidditch

This is the only Harry Potter chess set that allows you to choose your favorite Hogwarts House as your team. It includes a full set of die cast and enameled chess pieces for Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

The chess pieces can be stored inside the game when not in play. The chess board measures 12x12x3 and is made of hardwood with 24K gold plated decorations.

Unfortunately the Harry Potter The Hogwarts Houses Quidditch Chess Set isn't always available for sale. If you don't see one below, please come back at a later date.

Giant Chess

With a giant chess set, your kids (and you!) can play chess just like Harry Potter. With chess boards you can walk on and pieces as tall as 4 feet, these chess sets are guaranteed to be a hit for any Harry Potter fan!

These giant chess pieces are over 2'1" tall and made of durable lightweight plastic. To add weight, just unscrew the bottom and fill with sand or water. This chess set only includes the chess pieces, but here is where you can find the giant chess board.

The Lewis Chessmen

were the inspiration behind the chess pieces seen in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

The Lewis Chessmen are some of the oldest surviving chess pieces. They were found in 1831 on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland and dated back to the 12th century. Most of the 78 pieces are carved from walrus ivory. Most of the collection is on display at the British Museum in London.

Because of the British Museums help with creating the molds, these chess pieces are the closest reproduction to the actual Lewis Chessmen available. They're made of ceramic and then coated with antique ivory and maple brown finish. The walnut and maple chess board is a perfect match to the chess pieces.

Great sets for fans of both chess and the Potter series. Wouldn't mind owning a few of these myself.

I think it'd be pretty cool to play chess on a "Harry Potter" board. :-)

      With Love and Gratitude,
