LEGO Storage Bricks

Updated on July 1, 2014

Playful, Practical Storage Boxes for a LEGO Theme Kid's Bedroom

Giant LEGO bricks to store your LEGO bricks in? Now, that's meta! The officially licensed big bright plastic LEGO Storage Bricks are actual interlocking blocks, just like the regular size of our favorite construction toys.

You can stack 'em up into as many shapes as your imagination and your brick supplies can manage - but these over-sized blocks are actually storage containers in disguise, designed to contain and organize all those small-piece toys in a fun way that's also practical.

Stack them in a closet, build a decorative tower in a corner, or slide your LEGO containers neatly out of sight under the bed... you're the builder! If there's anything that could almost make it (almost) fun to put away your toys... these big plastic block boxes may just do it.

Real Stackable LEGO Brick Storage Boxes!

Storage containers by LEGO are shaped like real (giant) LEGO bricks

Available in four sizes (1, 2, 4 and 8 dot or stud sizes) and in 8 different colors:

  • Yellow
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Dark Green
  • Black
  • Bright Purple
  • White
  • Light Blue
Not all colors and sizes are available from any single distributor, especially in North America at the moment, though our friends in the UK are more fortunate. Luckily, you can find all the LEGO Storage Brick variations for sale at Amazon and occasionally offered on eBay as well.

LEGO Storage Brick Review - Incredibly Cute Kids put LEGO Storage Bricks to the Test

If you're concerned about health issues related to polyvinyl chloride in toys and household products, you'll be glad to know all sizes of the LEGO licensed storage boxes here are made with kid-friendly PVC-free plastic.

Small Single 1-Dot LEGO Boxes - 8 Different Colors

These storage boxes that look single LEGO bricks each measure 4.9" by 4.9" by 7.1" tall, the perfect size to slip into a bookcase or stack on a tabletop.

Obviously, the most fun and the most flexible storage comes with a selection of different sizes of bricks - just as with the toy bricks themselves. You'll use the smaller ones for special pieces or those you've got in smaller numbers, while the larger 8-dot bricks are ideal for storing the basic blocks of an extensive LEGO collection, or even some half-built models, if you're so inclined, and the demands of life happen to interfere with a constructive play session for a day or two...

But if I had to choose just one size of these giant LEGO brick containers, it would probably by the double-dotted unit. In real-life LEGO that was always one of my favourite pieces, slim and versatile for building out the intricate details on my latest Wonder of Plastic Block Architecture.

But there's a practical reason, too.

At a size of 9.75" by 4.87" by 7.25" (that last one is the height measurement, if you're thinking about under-bed or bookshelf storage and want to get out your tape measure on the available space), this seems the most convenient size for the average young LEGO fan.

And the price point is comfortable enough that you'd feel good about stocking up on plenty of the 2-dot bricks, in whatever colors go with your room decor, to keep the kid amused and (hopefully) all the small toys picked up and put away at the end of play time!

Again, this size comes in the full range of LEGO colors, though you may find that the very popular red and yellow might be temporarily out of stock from time to time.

8-Dot LEGO® Storage Bricks - Large Size

Big rectangualr 8-dot block gives us the serious storage space, for incorrigible collectors of many many many LEGO sets that all get mixed together into a wonderful collection, ripe for tomorrow's creative play...

Larger pieces, boards, and half-built figures (works in progress) will probably demand the large 8-sizebrick container, shown elsewhere on this page, but even then I think you'll find you want a couple of smaller (2 or 4 size) bricks to mix in, to keep those special pieces apart from the general construction toy mayhem.

For the more well-equipped LEGO collector, you'll probably want to start with a couple of four-pack boxes. They're large enough to have visual intentional impact as part of your child's bedroom decor - in a good way! - but still compact enough to offer great versatility for organization of all those little building blocks and mini figs, as well as simply storage.

Find the color and size you need

Besides the Light Blue, Red, and Yellow storage boxes shown above, you can take your pick of other playful color options - Dark Green, White, Black, Bright Pink, and Blue - to match your room's decorating theme and color scheme. All of these come in a variety of sizes, from the hefty 8-dot box to the small two-dot size that works great to make a colorful wall of stacked storage beside the bed or on a shelf in your child's bedroom or play room. Mix and match the bright primary colors, or coordinate with the bedroom decor!
