Get Your Kid Playing Like a Pro

Kids basketball set

The Little Tikes Play Like a Pro Basketball Set is an adjustable hoop set that can be extended anywhere from four to five feet, so you manage to get a lot of usage out of the set before your child outgrows this toy. The recommended age range is 24 months to 1 years.

The set is made out of a hard wearing plastic and is sturdy enough for play both inside the home as well as out.

Having said that, you do need to take special care to ensure you securely weight the stand down. The manufacturers recommend using sand, but the hole in the base is a little on the small side, so things could get messy. Fortunately, water makes a good alternative if you are finding the sand too fiddly.

Note that if you do not use something to weight this set down, it will topple over.

Things to Consider Before Buying

Portable basketball hoops for kids

We all know that there is no perfect product or toy out there, but if you know a few of the limitations before you buy you can then make a fully informed decision before you splash the cash right? Alrighty then. Here's a couple of things to have a think about.

  • If you have kids that love the rough and tumble type of basketball, then this may not be the set for them. While it is sturdy, it's just not designed for a high level of boisterousness.
  • The starting height of this set is four feet, so if your kid is on the tiny side, then they'll find it a bit of a challenge to work their magic on this hoop.

My kids love basketball like this, but they would kill themselves with something like this! Thankfully I found one which is a bath toy and they absolutely love it!
