Schwinn Roadster 12-inch Children's Tricycle

Updated on September 22, 2014

Schwinn Roadster 12" Tricycle

Children love the Schwinn Roadster 12" Tricycle with its retro styling and it's air filled tires. Create a lifetime of memories for your child when they recieve this trike for....their birthday....or Christmas....or just because you want them to have the best.

My first tricycle wasn't the Schwinn Roadster 12" Tricycle, but I still remember it very well. It was called the "Vroom Tricycle". That thing was sooo cool. It looked a lot like the Schwinn Roadster, but it sat a little taller and it had a little box mounted on the handlebars that made an engine sound when you flipped the switch. I loved that trike and rode it all around the neighborhood.

Now, flash forward 40 something years and now I'm considering what riding toy I will be getting for my grandchildren. What should you look for when purchasing a tricycle for your little bundles of joy?

Video Demo of the Schwinn Roadster 12" Tricycle - See the Features on Display

Watch this overview that displays the features of the Schwinn Roadster Trike. See it in all three available colors - red, pink, and blue. Notice how sturdy it is, and with the low profile, it would be very unlikely to ever tip. For the smaller children who haven't quite got the legs to pedal the tricycle, there is plenty of room for them to use their legs to push themselves. They will get lots of use with it while they grow into it.

Schwinn Roadster 12 Inch Tricycle Reviews

Low Seat and Wide Profile Give Excellent Stability

Over 400 customers reviewing the Schwinn Roadster 12" Tricycle have rated it with 4.5 out of 5 stars. Customers were impressed with how well this trike is built and for such a reasonable price.

I've summarized some of the comments made by consumers who have purchased this tricycle:

  • Easy to assemble
  • Comfortable seat
  • Sturdy as it should be, quality is very good
  • Children love the bell and handlebar streamers
  • It's low to the ground so it won't tip easily
  • It comes with the tires deflated
  • The decals are rather cheap looking

Though a few people were concerned about how the low design and forward pedals made it difficult for their smaller children to pedal it, the vast majority were enthused about the stability that the low profile creates. Safety is the most important issue for most parents.

Important Tricycle Safety Tip

Please make sure your child wears a helmet while riding their tricycle.

Children's Bicycle Helmets - Safety First

Since the Schwinn Roadster Tricycle has such a low center of gravity, there is a very remote chance that it will ever tip over. This is a very safe tricycle compared to others that are on the market. Still, you should take every precaution to protect your child from any chance of head injury while they are riding. A helmet is such a cheap and easy way to do that. Check out these.

This is quite a cool looking tricycle, with the handlebar bell and streamers included! And compared to the trike I leaned on as a kid (a hand-me-down from an uncle), the seat is much lower, so I can see that a child will not easily tip and fall off the thing on turns, like I did! Looks like a great choice for a children's tricycle.
