SWTOR Trooper Guide
Probably one of the bravest and noble characters in Star Wars: The Old Republic are the Galactic Troopers. Originally in the movie, the character of the Galactic Troopers are the Galactic Stormtroopers, while in the most recent trilogy series they are the clone troopers. In the game series, you start off as a trooper, capable of harnessing heavy weapons but have limited mobility and cannot yet use the light saber. You will also use the wide range of weapons from small rifles to heavy cannons.
The history of the Galactic troopers began when the Treaty of Coruscant started recruiting military forces for the republic. The recruitment process started within its own ranks, making its characteristic even more defined as courageous and defenders against the Sith Empire. The Galactic troopers are the most disciplined and very much talented brand of military soldiers, perfect for the elite group of the republic first line of military defense.
As a trooper, as the Star Wars movie suggests, you will serve as the guardian and defender of the Republic. The troopers are known for their tactical skills that make them very much popular in the first line of defense. In the movie, even the Jedi and its rival the Sith is very much impressed with the courage and abilities of the trooper.
Troopers in SW:TOR
In the game series, you will start off as a trooper coming from the Havoc squad. It is an elite group that defends the republic from the forces of Darth Vader. Compared to the infantry, the troopers are more powerful and armed with a lot more skills. The best way in dealing with the Troopers is creating a special ops team, by which this will guarantee your first line of defense. There are three species of Troopers to choose from; Human, Zabrak, and Mirilian. Each species come with different skills, though with common abilities and heavy weapons.
In the game, the ammo you will use will have a regeneration rate of about 1 ammo for every 2 to 3 seconds. But as a trooper you will have the ability to generate ammunition at a faster rate. You will also have the option to specialize either in increasing damages per second or DPS, or you can become a savior because troopers can carry large amounts of health and armor.
As a special skill, the troopers generally travel in small groups, allowing them to perform defensive tactical combat operations. But in some parts of the game a trooper can engage in combat. Usually the trooper uses the rifle as a primary weapon. Once unleashed, the trooper will have ravaging effects on the enemy, especially when grouped into a special elite force. But later on the game, heavier weapons come in and allow the trooper to upgrade its rifle. With its basic skills in combat, the trooper will engage any enemy as long as it has a weapon to use. The trooper will not back down any combat operations, as long as it is for the defense of the republic.

Trooper Advanced Classes
Commando and Vanguard
For anyone who picked the Trooper as their class of choice, you can further branch into two advanced classes, otherwise known as specializations. They are Commando and Vanguard, and each one has its pros and cons.
Commando specialization is primarily focused on using powerful weaponry like such as rockets to annihilate the enemy. It is the “DPS” spec of the Trooper class and the Commando utilizes the heavier guns that are mainly held with two hands. The Commando can also serve as a healer, and often uses grenades. The two skill trees are called Gunnery and Combat Medic. Gunnery is focused on maximizing the assault cannon’s destructive power, while the Combat Medic trains the Commando to provide expert first aid to wounded comrades in the heat of battle.
Vanguards go out on the battlefield with heavy armor and are able to charge through extreme blaster fire and hostile environments. Their defensive tactics cause them to have a very high survivability. They are basically tanks who utilize energy shields and other defensive abilities to their advantage. Vanguards are also adept at close range damage dealing with their blaster rifle.
The two Vanguard skill trees are Tactics and Shield Specialist. Tactics trains the Vanguard how to more effectively deal with close range combatants, and Shield Specialist powers up the Vanguard’s shield generator to absorb firepower and protect their allies.
Vanguards additionally have a shared skill tree: Assault Specialist, which teaches explosives and grenades to complement either rifles or heavy cannons.
