Best Train Toys for Toddlers

Trains for toddlers make great toys and there are a variety of different train themed toys on the market.

There are train themed books, DVDs and lego sets as well as wooden train sets, motorised trains and remote control trains. The list is endless.

My 2 1/2 year old son is train mad and this article highlights and reviews a lot of toys he loves to play with and more. He especially loves his wooden train sets which he asks to play with everyday. He also loves Thomas and friends. Read on to learn more about trains for toddlers.

My 2 year old son plays for ages with his wooden train set. He puts all the pieces together to make the track (sometimes with a little help) and then he will push the trains around. I think the train sets with magnetic trains are the best as my son will spend a long time fixing all the trains together in a line and then pushing them around. Train set tables are great for endless hours of play. They keep the playtime mess off the floor and at children's level. They normally come with their own train set. Most of them have good storage facilities so as well as being a toy they are great for storing all trains, accessories and other toys when they aren't being used. Some of the train set tables can be used for other play too such as with cars. Some of them have table tops which can be pulled over the train set and used for drawing. Lego Duplo are the lego sets with bigger blocks and they are great for little toddler hands. Lego has all kinds of themed sets including train sets. They are great because you can work with your toddler to put the sets together and then they will have great fun pushing trains around the track.
