Tudor Mint Myth and Magic
Myth and Magic
The Myth and Magic collection from Tudor Mint has many of the characters featured in Arthurian legend. One of my favorites is the dragon figurine featured here. When I saw it in the store window I had to stop and check it out. This was when I found out that they had a whole line dedicated to Myth & Magic and I became addicted.
The myth and magic of the legend of King Arthur has always appealed to me. It started when I saw the Disney film The Sword and the Stone. It only grew stronger when we were taught about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in school. It carries on to this day with my love of the BBC series Merlin which airs in Canada on the Space network.

The Legends of King Arthur
Dragons
Dragons are mentioned in Arthurian legends mostly to show the bravery of the knights who slay them. They are usually what is standing in the way of the knight rescuing a fair maiden. Another connection is made because King Arthur's last name is Pendragon. Which can be interpreted as "head dragon".
Myth & Magic Dragon Figurine
I haven't seen the one that I have available for a long time. However there are other Dragon Figurine that are still available from the Tudor Mints Myth & Magic collection.
Lancelot
Lancelot the most famous of the knights of the round table. He is noted as being the bravest and most skilled. However it is his love affair with Guinevere that is the main feature in any modern stories. It is also said the their love affair is the catalyst for the death of Arthur.
Merlin
Merlin is seen as a mentor and protector for Arthur. He was the one who was responsible for Arthur taking the throne when he set up removing the sword from the stone as the key to being worthy of being the King. Legend has it that he was the most powerful sorcerer of all time. Not only was he able to conjure up powerful magic, it was also said that he could control dragons.
King Arthur
Legend portrays him as a fair and just leader that truly cared for his people. He would actually participate in battles himself, alongside with the other knights to protect his land and people form the Saxons. These days we could only dream about having a leader like that. Someone who is fearless and who actually cares about the people that they are leading..
The Sword in the Stone
Mordred
Mordred - In some texts he is Arthur's nephew, in others his son. He is the one to reveal the love affair between Lancelot and Guinevere. This is the beginning of the end of Camelot. In almost all cases they eventually meet in the Battle of Camlann which turns out to be fatal for both of them.
Who is Your Favorite Person of Arthurian Legend?
Camelot
Here is the figurine of the Camelot Castle. This is where the knights of the round table gathered and jousting matches were held on it's land. It is the place where King Arthur and Lady Guinevere were married.
