WeeRide Co-Pilot Bike Trailer

Updated on September 6, 2013

WeeRide Co-Pilot Bike Trailer

The WeeRide Co-Pilot bike trailer offers an excellent method of getting your preschooler started in bicycling. Is it right for you?

If your children aren't quite ready to ride a bicycle by themselves, or if they want to pedal along on the longer trips, but just don't have strong enough legs to keep up, this tag along bicycle child trailer just might be the way to go.

The universal mounting bracket on the WeeRide Co-Pilot makes it quick and easy to attach to almost any bicycle's seat post. The adult has full control of the steering, braking, speed, and balance of the bicycle, while the child sits on their seat while holding on to a set of handlebars and pedals away. It's a great complement for an adult who is towing a larger preschool-aged child when he may need a little assistance getting up an incline or riding across grass or gravel.

It's a great way to have some family together time, while at the same time, teach your child the "rules of the road" and safe riding skills.

Latest Design Features of the Co-Pilot - From the 2009 Upgrade by WeeRide

WeeRide Co-Pilot Bike Trailer Reviews

What the Consumers Liked and Disliked

Out of 147 consumer reviews of the WeeRide Co-Pilot, it has been rated with 4 out of 5 stars. The users were especially pleased with the ease of assembly of the unit. Most were able to have the Co-Pilot out of the box, assembled, attached to their bike, and ready to ride within 15-20 minutes. Also, consumers are very pleased with the value of this unit, comparing the quality to many tag along style bike trailers that cost much more than this one.

I've summarized a few of the comments about the WeeRide Co-Pilot bike trailer:

  • Excellent Value for the Money
  • Very Sturdy and Well Built
  • Quick and Easy to Assemble
  • The flag doesn't stay in well
  • The seat doesn't go low enough for very small passengers
  • There were some concerns about the trailer tipping too much during sharp turns and some free play in the connection where the arm folds back, but those were from comments posted before 2009 when the re-design was made (see video above)

Among the most common comments was that the children love it so much that they don't want to stop riding. Many parents experienced their children yelling, "Faster, Faster!"

Important Child Safety Message

Always, Always, Always make sure your child is wearing a helmet while riding in any type of bicycle child carrier!

Children's Bicycle Helmets - Make Sure Your Child Has a Properly Fitting Helmet

Your child should always wear a helmet whenever they are riding on any type of bicycle or bike trailer. Despite that serious accidents are a rarity, there's no reason not to protect against the slight chance of injury.

I've always believed that if something has value you should protect it. That includes your child's valuable head.

This looks like so much fun for both adult and child! It's great that the child can pedal, but the adult remains in full control. I love this option, and I've seen it while walking around the lakes in my city, Minneapolis. I thought it was a specially made bicycle, but it's really a trailer to add to any regular bike... genius!

I love that kids can be pedaling, too, and getting their own exercise on the family bike ride!
