The Nintendo Wii U is Nintendo's follow up to the Wii. This brand new console is set to hit the shelves in the second half of 2012. The console made its debut during Nintendo's E3 Press conference in 2011. This new system will be able to play Hight Definition material and also introduces a brand new type of controller. The Wii U is backward compatible with the Wii and is said to have an improved online capability. Nintendo also announced that they would have something similar to the app store for the Wii U where players will be able to download games.

The controller for the Wii U is a tablet with a touchscreen in the middle. The screen will be able to display the game instead of the TV, allowing the player to keep on playing even if someone else wants to use the television. Players will be able to play using touchscreen control, motion sensing technology, a microphone, a D-pad, two circle pads and the traditional a/b/x/y/L/R buttons. The Wii remote and Wii motion plus controllers also work with the Wii U, which give developers a wide range of choice in term of game-play possibilities. Two tablet controller can be used with one console and four Wii remote can be added to the mix, allowing a maximum of six players at the times.
