Largest Wine Producing Country
Based on 2011 volumes
France overtook Italy to become the worlds largest producer of wine based on statistical information from the International Organization of Wine and Vine in 2012. They'll most likely return to second place in 2013 as the 2012 harvest in France was exceptionally poor.
In 2011, wine production figures were 49.633 million hectoliters of wine made in France, 41,580 mha made in Italy, and USA came in fourth after Spain with a volume of 18.740 mhl.
Yields of wine worldwide are at an all time low due to extreme weather conditions that reduced or damaged crops.
