10 ways to live a happy life

Updated on December 4, 2012

You deserve a better life

There is a friend, she complained a lot. For the first time we listened to what she share and gave our sympathy. For the second time, we understood how she felt and gave our advice. For the third time, we were tired to listen to any of her sharing or complaints. For the forth time, she in fact don't need any advice because she likes to be suffered. I have been so enough of this for the last several years. I would like to suggest 10 ways for those who want to live happier and really start to live their lives.

Stop complaining

Really, for the last time I say, please stop complaining about your life. Of course you could share whatever you want with your family and friends. But when you complain the same thing over and over again. You not only suck up your own life, you also suck up other people's lives. From this moment onward, stop complaining and think about how to start a happier life.

End unsatisfied relationships

If the relationship with your partner/ boyfriend/ girlfriend is unsatisfied (given that you tried to save and change them already), please end it. I know it is hard to find another life partner again, or you don't want to change, or the situation is not that bad as you think. Stay honest to yourself, does the relationship bring only unhappiness and dissatisfaction? If yes, please end it. Life is too short to be unhappy. Trapping in unhappy relationships will only make depression out of you.

Resolve bad relationships

These two ways seem contradictory to each other. But I am talking about relationships in your family here. If you have bad relationships with those people who have biological relationships with you, try your best to resolve them. If not, you would regret one day. But relationships are both ways. After trying your best, they still don't give positive responses. Let it go! You do your best already.

Like your job

Try to like what you are doing for your living. If you hate your job, please quit it. Find another one you like to do if it's possible. If due to financial problems which blocks you from finding another one, try to find the good sides of the job that you don't like and try to like it. But most of the time, we are so afraid to change that we remain where we are and just complain.

Send gifts or give donations

You could send little gifts to your partner, family or friends not only at Christmas or Easter. You could just buy them something nice and small when you feel like. Or you contribute your donation to those charities you like. Sharing with other people is always a way of happiness.

Breathe deeply in countryside

Pick a weekend or anytime you want, go to the countryside, lay down and just breathe. Breathe in and out deeply. Remind yourself that everything is not such a big deal. You are still breathing and still living, which means you still have chances to make yourself happier and better when you wake up every morning.

Have a coffee

Take a break, drink a coffee at a cafe. Enjoy the moment of doing nothing, make a pause in your life. Don't try to think and not worry about the next appointment. Why are we always trying to make us the most busiest person on earth?

Pick up a new language

Learning a new language, open up a whole new world for yourself. When you reach a certain language level, you would be amazed that how the new language opens up your mind to another new culture and new values of life. You won't see how it would change yourself if you haven't tried it yet.

Pick up a hobby or sport

You should balance your life with a hobby or a kind of sport you like to do. You would meet new people and discover another side of yourself. Doing sport makes your brain functioning in another way and it stops unnecessary thinking. Sometimes thinking too much just makes us unhappy. I suggest Yoga and meditation personally. Yoga is not a kind of sport, but a way of life. The exercises bring benefits to your brain and body.

Love yourself

Nothing is more important than loving yourself. Loving yourself means accepting who you are and what you are. You see your strengths and weakness. You accept them. Try to change bad habits. You believe that you can change your present situation and make your life better, because you deserve to lead a HAPPIER life.

I am no expert. But I really did most of the above ways. And I never give up to make myself happier in my life.
