100 Calorie Or Less Snacks.

It is proven that you concentrate on your day better when you snack in between meals.We have all been there hunger kicks in and it is not dinner time yet or that craving kicks in for some thing sweet.The trouble with snacking it can turn in to as many calories as dinner.So he is some ideas to help you make a healthy choice and to feel better about what you are eating.The trick is picking a snack no more then a hundred calories.Aim to eat your snack half way between your meals which will help keep your energy levels consistent through the day.Eating a snack will also help you from reaching for that fast food on the way home because you are so hungry you reach for unhealthy food.It is also important to drink water through the day with your meals and snacks and to keep your body hydrated.

1.Cottage cheese and cantaloupe.

Take 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with 1/2 cup of diced cantaloupe.Mix them together and enjoy.

2.Cottage cheese salad.

Place 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese with 1/4 cup of green pepper with 1/4 cup of tomatoes chopped.Chop small scallion and sprinkle on top with a pinch of salt and pepper.Makes 1 cup and each cup is 100 calories.

3.Frogs on a log.

Take a stick of celery and spread it with reduced fat cream cheese.Top with 5 sliced pimiento stuffed green olives.One serving is 62 calories.

4.Frozen fruit pops.

You will need to dice kiwi,watermelon, strawberry's and pineapples and measure 1/3 cup of each fruit.Measure 1/4 cup of orange or pineapple juice.Take 5 oz cups and fill them with fruit and pour the juice over the fruit.Place a Popsicle stick in the cup and place in the freezer for a few hours until firm.Once you are ready for your snack take the cup and run it under warm water until the pops come free and then enjoy.About 33 calories each.

5.Hummus

2 tablespoons of hummus and fresh vegetables washed and peeled.Carrot sticks are my favorite with this dip.

6. Edamame

Steam approximately 45 edamame and put in a snack bag and take them with you where ever you go.

7.Carrot and raisin salad.

A great small salad which can be used as a snack which can also help that sweet craving.You take 2 tbsp of raisins and a 1 cup of shredded carrots and mix together and enjoy. 100 calories.

8.Nuts

You need a fast quick snack then nuts is your answer.Grab some snack zip lock bags and fill with your favorite nuts.14 Almonds,17 peanuts,25 pistachio nuts,10 cashews,10 pecan half's or 13 walnuts half's.

9. Strawberry's

Wash and cut 1 cup of strawberry's with 2 tbsp of light cool whip.75 calories.

10. Blueberry's.

1 cup of blueberry's 83 calories.

11.String cheese.

One part skim string cheese.80 calories.

12.Baked Potato.

Take half of a baked potato and top it with 1 tbsp of fresh salsa.

13.Skinny s'mores.

Two graham crackers and roast one marshmallow then add one small square of dark chocolate put it all together and enjoy!

14.Pretzels and cheese.

15 mini pretzel sticks with 2 tablespoons of fat-free cottage cheese.

15.Chocolate-covered Banana

Half a frozen banana dipped in two melted squares of dark chocolate.

16.Boiled egg.

One boiled egg is 78 calories.

Avocado Yogurt Dip

Yields: 16 servings (2 tablespoons each)

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Plain fat free yougurt
  • 1/2 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Jalapeno pepper, finely chopped with no seeds
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice, fresh
  • 1 tbsp Ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3 Avocados, peeled.seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 Garlic clove, minced

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend all together until smooth.
  2. Scoop the creamy dip in to a dish. Add chopped carrots,celery,red,green peppers,sliced cucumber,baby carrots or raw cauliflower.
