3 Reasons To Eat Dill Pickles!

Updated on April 16, 2013

1. Dill Pickles Are Super Low Calorie!

One whole dill pickle spear only contains about 5 calories and you can eat an entire cup of dill pickles slices for about 20 calories. Pickles make a perfect snack for calorie conscious dieters. Unfortunately, pickles are very high in sodium, but there are a few low sodium varieties if that is a concern. Pickles are also low in fat and sugar.

2. Pickles Are A Good Source Of Fiber

One cup of sliced pickles contains about 3g of fiber. Among other things, fiber is important for a healthy digestive system.

3. The Vinegar Is Good For You

Dill pickles are made with vinegar which is great for your digestive system and immune system. Vinegar has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and helps fight infections. Vinegar is also linked to lower blood pressure.

Great informative hub, voted up and shared. I am a pickle addict, I even put pickles in my popcorn. Glad to see my pickle habit has some healthy benefits.

Koshaugh - Thanks for the article on one of my all-time favorites. I loooove me some dill pickles. Unlike every other member of my family who prefer sweet bread and butter pickles, I am a die-hard dill pickle person!

I guess you could call me a pickle-puss!
