30 Weeks to a Healthier You: Week 1 - Breakfast

Updated on September 8, 2012

Week 1 - Eat Breakfast Every Morning

The saying that "Breakfast is the Most Important Meal of the Day" may be cliche, but that makes it no less true. Starting each morning with a healthy meal will help to set the tone for the rest of your day. Read on for some details on the benefits of breakfast and some heathy breakfast menu selections. Good luck on the first week of your new, healthier life!

Start at the Beginning.

It seems appropriate to start this health challenge with the very first thing we do, or should do, in the morning. Eating a balanced breakfast helps to give your body fuel to get you started on your day. You may find that you need less coffee in the mornings once your brain has the propper nutrients to wake you up without all that caffeine. If you find it difficult to make the time for breakfast, consider choosing something portable, like a whole wheat English Muffin with a slice of cheese and a piece of fruit. Opting for the same morning meal each day is better than skipping this vital meal every day. Just make sure the rest of your meals have a good variety.

This oatmeal tastes like homemade, but with the ease of instant. I sprinkle some cinnemon and a handfull of raisins into it for flavor without detracting from it's health benefits. I then top it with a little low-fat milk. Yummy!
