4 Ways to Reconnect with Yourself
1. Listen to music that makes you feel alive.
There are songs that just take you somewhere. It makes you wander, daydream and reconnect with yourself. What you see in your dreams are your unafraid self -- that successful person -- if only you are courageous enough to make it happen. If you still do not know what you really want to become, have some quiet time. Just go with the music and dream.
Once you see your successful self, keep that picture in mind. Find a similar picture in the internet. Paste it on your vision board. Believe that you can become that person. However, remember that being successful is not about being rich and famous. Being successful is having that deep connection with yourself. It is about doing what you love and doing well with your craft. If you dream to be a scientist, you should not just dream to be famous. It is not just about striving all day to be one and lose yourself in the process. Then, after pausing for a while, you realize you just want to be happy. How will you be happy? Do it for a good cause. Be a scientist to contribute solutions to the pressing problems in your community, town, country or of the world. Start small. As they say, "Every great journey starts with a small step." Your dream to be famous comes after giving off yourself to a much bigger cause. Soon, the world will seek to know you, to thank you for your great contribution.
2. Read books that will give you inspiration.
Words do have great power. Hold on to words or phrases in books that will embolden you to take that first step in reconnecting with yourself, finding your passion or making your dreams come true.
Some of the quotations which you can hold on to are the following:
-
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
-
“Circumstances are the rulers of the weak; they are but the instruments of the wise.” - Samuel Lover
-
“The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.” - Confucius
-
‘Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us’ - Marianne Williamson
You have to really believe in the power of those words. Declare them everyday and take them into heart. Remember to be patient. Do not falter with some failures encountered along the way. There is really no easy road taken in making your dreams come to a reality. Cultivate those powerful thoughts daily. See yourself transform and flourish each day as you reconnect with yourself and strengthen your resolve.
3. Be alone and find a quiet place for reflection.
Find a cozy cafe with a good ambiance for you to reconnect with yourself if you do not have a good place at home where you can be yourself. Do not be afraid to be alone. Enjoy the food and listen to yourself...It in silence that you can hear yourself more. The more you will be able to hear your inner self tells you what it is that you want. Find clarity as they pop out...Remember to be specific of the things that you want. The more self-assured that you are, the more you will be determined to chase after them.
4. Travel and wander for a while to discover what it is that you want.
Try travelling to find along the way what it is that you want. As you travel, keep an open heart. Relax. Chill. Let loose your mind. You will meet new people that can inspire you to be like them. You will encounter new cultures that you would want to adopt. You can build connections that will bring you to your dream job. You can find a place where you can establish your dreams. See for yourself the many possibilities that you can be. Remember, your heart is your compass.
In finding yourself, your dreams and desires, you have to cut loose of everything around you. Learn to detach yourself for a while from a world full of chaos. Consider it a your “me” time. Forget about all your worries. Forget about all your obligations at work or in your family for just a short while. Be still, for it is in stillness that you begin to realize what you truly long for. It isn’t being selfish. Don’t feel guilty. It’s a time to recharge so that you can be filled again to give back. They say, “You cannot give what you do not have.” May your dreams and heart's desires be revealed unto you as you begin to listen to your inner self.
