5 Tips on How to Tackle Social Media Addiction?
Introduction
Today, the world is moving faster than we have expected twenty years ago. With the advancement of technology, people are spending more time online. And as per record, 2.6 billion and over 2 billion people are active on Facebook and YouTube alone.
Out of these so many people become social media addict. When I say social media addiction, it simply means excessive use of using social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, WhatsApp etc. And because of this habit, they are having some problems, stress or negative effect on their life and behaviour.
In this article, I want to share five tips to tackle the problem of social media addiction. So, let’s see what are they.
Dedicate Particular Hours For Social Media
We have only twenty-four hours in a day. Therefore, it’s important that we know exactly how to spend those valuable hours. Normally, we work for 8 to 9 hours each day. So, we have to make sure that we shouldn’t spend valuable times behind social media. In fact, it will be better we can set aside some dedicated hours for social media.
For example, I check and update all my social media accounts between 8 to 9 am max. During this hour I even check my emails and reply to them, if required necessary. Then in the afternoon after 2 pm, I check them only for half an hour. And at night, I check them once for another half an hour. Besides these times, I never check or reply to anything.
Stay Away From Negative Comments And Trolls
In my observations, I have seen many negative comments and trolls between people. It is my best recommendation as a human being to stay away from such comments. If you take part in such comments and trolls then you will be wasting your valuable time, energy and efforts.
I am sharing this tip because I have been part of such negative comments and trolls. And over time I found this activity as a waste of time and energy. So, now-a-days if I find someone ideology and comments don’t match with me, I never reply in their profiles.
I am happy and proud that from the past four years and above I wasn’t involved in such online activities. Now, if I have to share anything I just share positive thoughts, ideas, articles and comments. If you don’t believe in my words, you can check my Facebook, Twitter or Linkedin profiles. I am a man of my words.
Keep Some Distance Between You And Your Mobile Device
I know this will be the hardest thing to do for us. We are so much addicted not only to social media but to our mobile device. I also understand sometimes it’s not possible to keep them away. But we need to learn to distance ourself from mobile. So, here are my few suggestions.
Every morning and evening, I go out for a walk, at least for one hour each. And yes, you guess it right. I keep my mobile at my home most of the time. I keep my mobile away during lunch and dinner time. I keep away my mobile if I have to prepare lunch or dinner. And at night I keep my mobile away during sleep.
Delete Unnecessary Apps From Your Mobile Device
Unless and until you’re some social media marketing manager or digital marketing guy, you don’t need hundreds of apps in your mobile device. So, go ahead, clear your device and keep only those apps which are absolutely necessary for your business and personal life.
By doing this you will not only gain lots of free space, even the performance of your device will improve. In my own mobile device, I have downloaded only twenty-five additional apps besides the original apps.
Choose Social Media Management Tool like SocialBu
This is one of the best methods to take care of social media addiction. So, what is a social media management tool? Well, let me explain this by sharing an example of one social media management tool called - SocialBu.
