A Fabulous Life for me!

Updated on September 29, 2016

Are you the type of person who compares yourself to others? You are the type of thinker who believes that everyone has a better life than you? Well, that thinking is what I hope this hub will help change. Being Fabulous is more about how we think and portray ourselves to others than anything else. Being Fabulous is not about the expensive items we may/may not have or how beautiful/handsome we may/may not think of ourselves or how exciting our life may/may not be. Being Fabulous is about our self-confidence and self-worth.

When I was in high school, I used to always compare myself to others. I thought I was too short, fat, ugly, dumb...find a negative verb and I have called myself that in my head. But, as I got older and started reading a lot of self-help books, my mind slowly started changing. In the process I started looking differently and acting differently on the outside as well. How you think of yourself and how you perceive yourself comes out as well. For example, if you think you are ugly or fat, you will try to hide yourself in big hair or ponytails and big clothes. Instead, you need to first accept who you are and then slowly bring the change in you that you feel envious from others.

What type of a person are you?

Being Fabulous #1: Change how you think

Accept yourself! When you look in the mirror, see the good attributes rather than focusing on the bad ones. This process may take some time because we have a habit to see the negative before the positive.

You are you and you are gorgeous just the way you look and think! Don't ever let anyone tell you differently. Many famous and rich people we know today would not be where they are if they believed or listened to everything others. said about them

Being Fabulous #2: Bring about Confidence

Before you can believe it, start faking it. Soon enough you will start believing it yourself!

Start dressing the way you want to see yourself even if you think you can't pull it off. Start dressing the way your favorite actor/actress dresses up. Go get yourself a manicure and pedicure. Keep yourself clean and updated! This will bring more self confidence and you will start feeling good about yourself. This will bring positive thinking as well.

Being Fabulous #3: Health is first

If you are not healthy or happy, how can you help other or make a difference in the world. First most should be you! Eat more fruits and vegetables. Drink more water and less soda. Eat less junk food and more salads. Start exercising every day....it does not have to be big. Start by stretching for 10 min every day. At night, just meditate for a few minutes. This will start making a big difference. After a few days, start going for a walk or a run or biking or swimming or hiking...just move your body in any way you like. Dance to a favorite song every day! Even if you do one change a week, you will start noticing a difference in you and on the outside!

Being Fabulous #4: Determine what you want

If you ask most people, they know what they don't want. Very few people know what they actually want in life. So, your task is to create a list of everything you want to achieve and do in this lifetime. You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain because if you don't try to achieve them, how will you know if you can. It does not matter if you are short, tall, fat, thin, or anything in between.....a dream is a dream until you make it a reality.

Once you have a list, break it down into a pattern. You can either do tough and easy or what you want to achieve this year, next year, within the next 5 years etc. Now, look at those few and break it down further to this month, this week etc. Next, determine what actions you need to take to achieve the 2 or 3 items you have on the list to accomplish in the short term. This way you will be closer to achieving everything you want out of life.

Want
By when

Lose 10 lbs
2 months
Run every day for 30 min
Speak French fluently
6 months
Take French classes in community college

8 months
Find a cheap plane ticket and purchase

Example of List. Breaking down to smaller actions.

Be Fabulous #5: Go take Action!

Now, the main step, act on the list you created! Determine what you can do today or this week and start working on those actions. This way you will get closer to achieving your goals and dreams.

I know it is more appealing to have your goals and dreams achieved immediately, but that is usually not the case. If you slowly start working on them, you will feel happier knowing that you are that much closer in achieving them.

Life is so much and you need to go out there and live your life. A quote from the book, You Before Me, that I love...

"I worked out what would make me happy, and I worked out what I wanted to do, and I trained myself to do the job that would make those two things happen. It is simple, it's also a lot os hard work. And people don't want to pu in a lot of work...who will ever surprise you or push you or show you things that will leave your head spinning and unable to sleep at night."
