Introduction

A simple device may be a life saver. This wristband detects UV and warns the wearer to put on sunblock or cover up. It may just save you from skin cancer.

Background

We all know that the sun produces powerful UV light that can cause aging and skin cancer and skin tans. What is not well known is that UV can exist even on a cloudy day. A new wristband can help. This rubber band is waterproof and can indicate if the UV is present by changing color from white to purple.

By wearing this band while outdoors, you have a feedback that let's you know you might be in danger. Either cover up or apply sun block.

The following photo was taken on a cloudy day in NY around 2 pm in the afternoon. The wristband , usually white in color, will change to purple right in front of your eyes. It really works!

I picked it up today while visiting my dermatologist's office. They were giving it out for free to all patients. What a great idea. Thanks.

A new Surprise

Yesterday, I was driving in my car wearing my bracelet. It was a bright sunny day. I was always under the impression that the glass windows blocks UV and I don't need to worry about it. To my surprise, the bracelet change color to a light purple. This indicate to me that some UV is getting through the glass after all. Good to know.

Summary

This wristband is a simple reminder that everyone should be vigilant when it comes to the sun's harmful rays. I, for one, was under the false impression that a cloudy day will protect against these harmful rays. I am thoroughly convinced now.
