How can we play a roll in our aging process?

The main things we need to consider at this point are making sure you schedule yearly check-up for wellness. Maintaining a proper diet is vital, stress deduction and preventing the diseases that are likely to kill us before our time. A bad diet alone can harm the body and speed up the aging process. Don’t stress about what damage you have done in the pass, just make a commitment to eat right now.

As we age our body doesn’t require a lot of food. During our growth period of childhood, adolescence and early adulthood we required more food for development.

A diet low in fat and high in fiber, stress reduction, exercise, weight control and healthy personal relationships can rejuvenate the immune and endocrine systems which help fight off things that make us old before our time.

The diet should be made up with a variety of foods made up of fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins. A diet high in fiber and nutrient-rich foods promotes health and longevity.

If possible try to avoid as much process foods as you can because it can make you sick and speed up the aging process.

Antioxidants play a role in the aging process. It blocks that destruction, shields our cells from poisonous agents and toxins including radiation, carcinogens and stress. Antioxidants can be found in vitamin A (in the form of beta carotene), C and E.

Getting your daily water intake is important. The body must stay hydrated for it to function well.

There has been studies showing that staying lean is best for longevity.

Exercise at least 3 to 5 days a week at least for 15-20 minutes. Gradually increase the time as you become healthier. Exercise is the best stress reducer.

Scientist’s today know a great deal about the aging process and how to slow it down and eventually they will unlock this secret within each of us. But until then there is a lot we can do and choices we can make to contribute to our aging process.

Bobby, I appreciated your comments and I'm glad that you find my hub interesting. I always had an interest in a holistic approach because people heal faster and feel better.

People have a concern of the different type of medications they take and the effects after they take time. Taking a holistic approach works with your body, not against it.

I truly have been blessed with good health, but I am at the age now where I have to pay special attention to my lifestyle. I eat healthy foods now and exercise regularly, and that has helped me to maintain whatever youth I have left. Great points made here.

Lots of good information here. I really like the chart because it gives the information to me at a glance. I didn't know it was possible to live as old as 120 to 150 years. I guess, given the information found here, if we applied proper living habits, it could be possible.
