Can Olive Leaf Extract fight Swine Flu?

Updated on December 12, 2011

What is Olive Leaf?

A few years ago, I meet a friend who was so into natural medicines. She told me about Olive Leaf. Mind you I was very sceptical and had no idea how potentially effective it is when used for illnesses and health benefits.

Olive leaf extract is extracted from the leaves of an olive tree. Evidence have been recorded of olive leaf's medicinal use which dates back thousands of years when it was used by ancient Egyptian and Mediterranean cultures, to treat a variety of health conditions.

Flu and Colds
Olive leaf is known as a natural antibiotic and much attention is given for it's cold & flu prevention and treatment. Natural antibiotics like olive leaf contains anti-fungal and anti-viral properties which may be the most effective means of destroying new strains of colds and flus, including many potent types of influenza .

According to a recent report published in Alternative Medicine Review, Olive leaf interacts with the protein in cold and flu virus particles to stop infection,

In fact, the energy and immune system boosting properties of olive leaf increases the body's ability to resist illness and diseases. Chronic colds and upper respiratory infections are often a sign of a stressed and sluggish immune system.

The antioxidants in the olive leaf have the effect of eliminating damaging free radicals, leaving the immune system's resources for fighting off colds and flus. Olive leaf's combined qualities of boosting the effectiveness of the immune system and weakening the virus itself creates a powerful, safe and natural defense against these, and other pathogens.

Olive leaf is safe to take in conjunction with a flu shot, histamine tablets, and cold medications. It it safe for the whole family to take for the prevention or treat some infections.

Viruses
The main ingredient of olive leaf is the phytochemical oleuropein, which breaks down to elenolic acid. It is known to have a powerful anti-bacterial effect, and the ability to interfere with critical amino acid production essential for viruses. Oleuropein is a bitter monoterpene glycoside known as secoiridoids and is also one of the major components found in the portion of olive oil.

Research suggests that olive leaf may be a true anti-viral compound because it appears to block an entire virus system in the infected host. It then starts to boosts the healing effects that is not addressed by other pharmaceutical antibiotics.

Other benefits based on research are:

  • Avoiding or reducing the severity of colds, flu's, viral & fungal attacks.
  • Strengthens the immune system,
  • Lower blood pressure & cholesterol while increasing energy levels

I would think twice before getting vaccinated, as the side effects may cause more harm. The vaccination itself has not been tested for very long and the side effects reported may cause death. There is no pandemic and if you build your immune system and practice good hygiene, keep away from sick people and eat healthy, your body will respond and fight various diseases.

Olive Leaf Extract has 400% more antioxidant power than Vitamin C and is far more powerful than other "superjuices" The whole family can take it daily and will provide all the benefits you require.

I would suggest you take Olive Leaf everyday to safe guard yourself and your family from illnesses such as the flu or Swine Flu.

Please look into Olive Leaf and feel the difference. I will provide links to Olive Leaf and please read more about it.

My kind of hub shyonegb. If you've seen some of my newest hubs, you'll know what I mean. I don't think I've heard about olive leaf oil, or I might have and didn't pay much attention to it. Well now I am paying attention, and as soon as I can get out to the store I'll certainly get some. Thank you for that research and for sharing it with us.

Delighted to find someone who is finding successes in the olive leaf-plus treatments for viral and bacterial problems. It really does help! It seems to be, for me, one of the gentler yet 'proactive' herbals against flu.

Thanks for sharing your words here.
