Cradle Cap Symptoms and Treatment
What is Cradle Cap
Cradle cap is something that many babies suffer from and it is quite common. What a lot of people aren't aware of is the fact that even older babies have cradle cap. It is not exclusive to newborns or infants.
There are several products that you can buy that claim to help cradle cap, but very few of them actually do. Cradle cap is actually a fungus, it's not dangerous but is unsightly. It appears as scaly, dry skin. You don't want to pick at it because baby's scalps are very sensitive and you don't want to damage the thin skin that covers the scalp.
The only thing you want to use on a baby's head is brushes or combs that are made specifically for baby's. A lot of hospitals give you one of each after the birth of your baby. The one specifically that will help your baby's cradle cap is the small toothed combs made for babies.

Cradle Cap Treatment
A very simple way to get rid of cradle cap is to use the gel form baby oil and rub it gently onto an area of the baby's scalp. Let it sit for a minute or two and get your baby comb and gently comb that area. The dry skin will gradually lift off the baby's head.
You want to be very careful if you ever use liquid baby oil. If babies get it in their lungs, it can kill them because it suffocates the air passage ways. I would just use the oil gel that baby companies make rather than the liquid.
