What is Diabetes???

Many of us think that main cause of Diabetes is taking more of sugar and carbohydrate level in their regular diets. But it is not the main cause moreover taking increased levels of sugar and carbohydrates in their regular diets does not contributes towards the diabetes.

Diabetes is all about:

India is known as the diabetes capital which is a matter of concern as today every 7 out of 10 individuals are diagnosed with diabetes due to their unhealthy eating habits and junk lifestyle.

Diabetes occur due to malfunctioning of the beta islets cells of the pancreas which leads to the improper levels of insulin in the blood. This results in increased or decreased levels of insulin in the blood that is either the blood sugar level rises or falls.

Types of Diabetes:

Type 1 Diabetes: Insulin Dependent

Type 2 Diabetes : Insulin Independent or weight management dependent.

I think that the main cause of diabetes type 2 is the changing habits of the people as now everyone prefers to be in a comfort zone that's why now people prefers automobiles to cover even a small distance, eating habits are ridiculous as now junk food or fast food is in fashion and obesity has become a trend which everyone follows.

How one can identify that whether he/she is suffering from the Diabetes?

If one feels tried even if he or she did not worked much, Hunger and thirsts are raised above their levels even after 1-2 hours of eating something, laziness has become their passion, suddenly the body weight starts increasing or decreasing, high blood pressures, delay in healing of any injury etc as if you are facing all these problems then there is a risk that might be your suffering from the diabetes.

One should go to the laboratory to test his or her blood sugar levels once in a month and the blood sugar level is not between 90-120 then the person is suffering from diabetes and one must consult a doctor after this.

What leads to Diabetes?

Obesity which is trending in world now-a-days leads to the diabetes.
Moreover improper eating habits that is lying more towards the junk food or fast food as it is well said that " Fast Food Kills Fast". Facing Depression and stress or i can say that making stress and depression as your passion, No physical work outs that is does not involve in any sports and games that requires your physical force, exercise and yoga are becoming old fashioned which helps in keeping the body physically as well as mentally fit, A short walk is not preferable by the people as they are not ready to compromise with their comfort levels as now-a-days- they had created their own comfort levels.

Genetic disorders that in some cases it is inherited by the children from their parents. Diabetes is genetically transformed from a pregnant women to her child.

How to cope up with Diabetes?

If one found herself or himself suffering from the Diabetes then he or she should undergo proper check-ups once in a week, should checks his or her blood sugar levels regularly, proper medication and follow-up as per the directions of the doctor must be followed , He or she must involves in games and sports which involves physical exertion, Must do exercise, yoga and meditation regularly as this helps a lot in maintaining the blood sugar levels; moreover helps in keeping you physically and mentally fit. A daily walk for at least an hour will reduce the blood sugar levels. Proper diet like reducing carbohydrate and sugar content in the diet, eating fresh vegetables and fruits, low fat and cholesterol free diet might be helpful in controlling Diabetes.

How to monitor blood sugar levels?

Now-a-days it is easy to check blood sugar levels as now there are one touch ultra like devices are available in the market which are easy to use , carry and handle. Moreover they are reasonable and quick in showing results.

ONE TOUCH ULTRA DEVICE: In this device, we first set zero of the device then take a strip of the device and take blood sample from the finger. After that the strip is inserted in the device and within 1 minute the blood sugar level result is shown on the screen of the device.
This do have a memory function that keep the record/history of your blood sugar levels. By this you can monitor your sugar levels on daily/weekly/monthly basis.

Few medications:

Possible treatments available to maintain blood sugar levels:

Medicines available in market for controlling blood sugar levels, but do consult Endocrinologist before stepping towards any treatment.

  • Metformin (Glucophage, Glumetza, others). Generally, metformin is the first medication prescribed for type 2 diabetes. ...
  • Sulfonylureas. ...
  • Meglitinides. ...
  • Thiazolidinediones. ...
  • DPP-4 inhibitors. ...
  • GLP-1 receptor agonists. ...
  • SGLT2 inhibitors. ...
  • Insulin therapy.

INSULIN THERAPY: It is the critical part of treatment for people suffering from both types of diabetes. This will help you to maintain the blood sugar levels within your target range. Insulin is mostly inserted in the fat under your skin by using a syringe, insulin pen or insulin pump.

INSULIN PENS: Now-a-days Insulin pens modified injections are available in the market which are easy to inject. In these insulin pens we just have add insulin refill and then adjust the amount of insulin as directed by the doctor and inject it. They are easy to carry and no chances of contamination while injecting them.

Some Homopatheic and Ayurvedic medication is also fruitful in maintaining blood sugar levels but there is no permanent cured specified for the disease till now.

The Diabetes can not be cured but by maintaining proper diet and medication it can be controlled. The controlling of Diabetes is necessary as the decrease or increase in the blood sugar levels might be harmful for other vital organs of the body as improper blood sugar levels results in malfunctioning of various other important organs like heart attacks, kidney failure, complete loss of eyesight, skin disease are some of its major effects. So Diabetes must be controlled properly.

Future Aspects of Diabetes

Researches are going on to find a permanent cure for the disease. In my opinion if the beta islets cells are grown in an animal tissue culture with proper and defined media then these cells might be transplanted in the pancreases and this might results in proper functioning of pancreas and regulation of insulin in the blood. In this way, Diabetes can be permanently cured.
