Different Minds...Different Lenses
It took different minds
It took different minds to invent things we never had, but now take for granted…take electricity for example.
It took different minds to research and develop medical breakthroughs that extended our life expectancy and to save those that are sick.
It took different minds to challenge the unjust and fight for the rights of all people.
It took different minds to make the most beautiful works of art we will ever set our eyes upon.
It took different minds to create music that are the soundtracks to our lives.
It took different minds to lead our once divided country into one United Nation.
It took different minds to bring people from all across the world to one means of communication…the world wide web.
The list goes on and on…
If people didn’t see the world differently; think about life differently; ask different questions; never thought outside the box; imagine how different our lives would be.
My Son Has ADHD
I could take my child’s different way of thinking and try to condition it out of him; try to teach him more ways to conform, but then think, maybe he thinks differently because we need him to!
Different thinking may very well be exceptional thinking.
My son has ADHD…he sees the world unfiltered which means he sees the world around him in ways I cannot. Maybe my filters block out the very things that need to be seen to make a difference.
Maybe we need to see our children’s abilities to multi-focus without filters differently.
ADHD is not a curse; it’s a different way of thinking. I will support my child to manage ADHD so it is not an obstacle to his life, but instead I will provide him the tools to manage it in a manner that will help him flourish.
He wears different lenses than I do…but his are no less correct than mine.
