Vitamins as supplements - Do we Need Vitamin Supplements?

Updated on October 5, 2012

Do we really need supplements aside from the food we eat?

People need to eat everyday . Why? because we need energy to perform our tasks and roles, whether we are working, stay at home mothers, fathers, sports people or just sitting down and writing a book. Even if our job doesn’t require physical exertion we still need the energy we are suppose to be having. For those who don’t have time to cook for themselves, sometimes they just tend to rely on supplements like vitamins to nourish them. This should not be the case, there is no substitute for a normal healthy food. You cant justify taking vitamins because you just don’t have the time to bother yourself with a complete meal. A complete meal should have a serving of fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates and protein.

Vitamins are just supplements necessary so that we complete the nutrients requirement for our body. If we eat the necessary and complete nutrients meal, then we don’t need vitamins.

Things to keep in mind whether you will take vitamins or not:

It has been said that those who are pregnant, children, and old people and those who have other sickness, it is necessary to take vitamins by the doctors advice. Don’t just get multivitamins and then take it.

Why We Need Vitamins Video

In order for you to know what is best for you or if you need to take vitamins, you need to visit and have to be checked by a doctor first. It has been said that you cant just take vitamins they are selling over the counter, you need a doctors advice on what necessary vitamins you will be needing because as studies have shown, absorption of some vitamins is hampered by taking other vitamins. You need to inform the doctor if you want multivitamins or not.

Vitamin A is available in lettuce, carrots, spinach and also cabbage etc. Vitamin C is available in citrus fruits, broccoli and green vegetables. Vitamin E,  is found mainly in vegetable oils and fat meats.

If you choose to use multivitamins, and then taking another specific vitamins, it's important to tell your doctor and to avoid doubling up or overdosing unless you are instructed to do so.

Most multivitamin formulas are similar, but be sure to choose one offering 100 percent of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamins and minerals, including chromium, copper, magnesium and zinc.

Multivitamin and its components should also be taken together. Avoid taking your multivitamin at the same time as a prescription medication, as a doctor first and tell them that you are currently taking another medicine. This is very important because this might cause a severe reaction which may badly affect your health.

Have time to eat and prepare for your food. Sure we are all working but then health is wealth so, if we don’t take care of ourselves, then how can we have energy to work, and once we get sick, the amount of money you are going to pay for your medication is higher than what you earned from working, and the worst thing sometimes is that you cant even afford health insurance?

we need kind of vitamins for supporting our body. Like a car, it need gasoline to make the car run. But better when it compare with natural fruit and vegetables. to eliminate the effect. And it contain a lot of vitamins.

It's worth spending a little on going to see a diet and nutritionist, someone who can give expert advice on diet and taking vitamins.
