Does Obama Want To Pull The Plug On Grandma?

Updated on May 25, 2011

Poor Grandma!

Short Term Memory Loss

There seems to be a load of political rhetoric kaka swirling around the subject of Medicare reform. It's designed to scare seniors and those who hope to one day benefit from this entitlement program. The Democrats have produced an ad showing Paul Ryan pushing Grandma off the cliff, which is absurd since his starting point is reforming a system that is broken and must be reformed or go bankrupt.

What I propose is that an ad be put together that shows Obama pulling the plug on Grandma. Sorry Grandma, don't take any of this personally but more of a reality check so to speak. There was talk back when about death panels, which amounted to end of life counselling and advisory board humma-humma, in proposals for what we now know as Obamacare. May that concept soon rest in peace in the judicial graveyard of bad ideas.

Many liberals will yak away about how that was a myth but it wasn't. It was yanked so fast that it made people's heads spin. If they want to read an interesting tidbit about this subject, I suggest they try this article printed back in early January by The Washington Post:

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/right-turn/2011/01/supposedly_non-existent_death_panels_removed_from_obamacare.html

The fifth paragraph that references Sarah Palin seems to pop out at me as I write this. It was removed from Obamacare and republished as a regulation pertaining to Medicare. I'm becoming accustomed to the smoke and mirrors routine constantly being used to get its way by this administration. It's becoming rather common place. Then it seems, for political expediencies sake more than anything, that the regulation was pulled back in January, if one reads the article I just referenced.

So now it seems, though this one flies in low under the radar, it is resurfacing and I'm sure Obama doesn't want this to get out to the Grandmas in the US of A. He's rather blast away at Paul Ryan for making an honest attempt at reforming what we have now been informed is headed for bankruptcy sooner than expected as reported recently by the "trustees" of such fund. It's so easy to be critical and make absurd TV ads than it is to face reality.

But at the heart of this matter lies Obama's latest proposal concerning Medicare and deficit reduction. You see he doesn't want to push Grandma off the cliff, he just wants to pull the plug on her at some predetermined point and watch her take her last gasp of air. How so you might be inclined to ask?

Rather than address the issue of cost cutting, Obama has decided to punt on first down. This goes back to appointing an Independent Advisory Board, political speak for a death panel arrangement for seniors past and present, to make the decisions for us. Some term this the advent of rationing health care for our health care needs. That's what it really amounts to and smacks of socialized medicine.

This was the same panel that was envisioned originally for Obamacare that left a nasty taste in the American public's mouth. There was a shortage of Listerine at the time to rid it of its stench so it was quickly pulled. This might be a matter of timing now as it is easier to blast away at Medicare reform on one hand and hide the concept in a newer proposal by Obama without the benefit of too much press coverage.

The proposed board would consist of bureaucrats of the unelected flavor. Did you expect less? There will be 15 of them and they will have unbridled power in determining the efficiency and cost decisions associated with your needed treatment. If they decide to pull the plug on you then just grin and bear it, regardless of the decisions you and your doctor want to make concerning your continued treatment. Got the picture there? Those decisions will be micromanaged for you and your Doc.

The details of the proposal should alarm anyone. The means to achieve the end will let these bureaucrats cut reimbursements to our health care providers. Remember those costly end-of-life care procedures? The fix for that will be to restrict those bothersome procedures. The restriction will come in the form of caps on the amount of money that can be spent to sustain your life. A couple of breaths here and there are nothing to these guys and gals. Thrown under the bus too will be disabled Americans and cancer patients due to the high cost of their treatment. Shucks, we didn't need them around anymore anyway, did we?

Minor details in his plan include the fact that Congress won't be able to over rule any of this without a two-thirds vote to override Obama's veto pen. Also sliding in under the radar is the minor detail that the death panel will be law suit proof. Interesting huh? "How convenient" as The Church Lady would say.

Now if this doesn't get the Grandma's of the world thinking then that's scary. My health care is a personal matter. Isn't yours? I sure don't need any government interference in the most personal of matters that affect my continued existence on earth. I damned sure don't want some faceless board of bureaucrats making decisions that should be made between myself, my doctor and my family. According to Obamacare maniacs, the system bars rationing. Isn't what I just I just described to you rationing at the least? So instead of taking the bull by horns, Obama's solution isn't to push the old girl over the cliff. It's far easier to just stroll over and pull the plug.

Call it what you want but I'll call it what it really is - A DEATH PANEL.

Grandma! I hope you're paying attention to the behind the scenes action.

Have a great day. The plot seems to thicken every day.

As Always,

The Frog Prince

Sure He Isn't!
