After giving birth, a woman may notice that she has gained a few more pounds than she expected. A woman's body goes through a lot of changes and adjustments during her pregnancy, these changes often result in added weight in the end. The good news is that there are simple steps mothers can take to help whip their bodies back into shape.

Are Your Mentally Ready? Do You Have a Plan?

After my last three pregnancies, losing the baby weight was my goal. I knew that was what I wanted to do and so I set out to do it. However, while I "knew" this is what I wanted, I did not mentally prepare myself to be consisted with it. My goal was only to lose weight. I did not have any steps in place to help me meet that weight loss goal.

If it is your desire to lose weight, it can be helpful to have a written plan to help you stay focus and keep track of your progress. It is also good to prepare your mind mentally each day to be determined to meet your goals and to stick to them. Your goals should be realistic and should progress in difficulty as you progress in your journey. You don't want to start off setting goals for yourself that are simply too difficult to obtain in the beginning or too easy to challenge yourself mentally. You want your journey to be fun and rewarding.

Keep yourself mentally motivated and positive. You can do this by writing yourself motivating notes and sticking them around the house as reminders. This will help give you the boost you need on those days that you feel like giving up or simply skipping a workout.

Does What You Eat "Really" Matter

We hear it all the time, "eat a good healthy diet" to maintain a good weight. This advice is true, but it is often ignored. Many people feel that as long as they put in hard work at the gym they can continue to eat whatever they want. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, it is essential that you change your diet. Eating healthy meals and snacks can play a major role in how fast you lose weight. There is no big secret to this, fruits and vegetables are ideal to have included in your diet. Monitor your portion size and be sure to get in the recommended amount of water for your weight.

Engage in the Right Exercises to Lose Weight

Okay so we know we need to exercise to lose weight, but some women aren't sure what exercises to do. To make it easy for you, you could try an exercise program generated online for your age and weight loss goal or you could use DVD workouts that you can follow along with at home. I have tried Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and think that it is great for beginners. It was very easy to follow and Jillian provides has where you can choose to do the modified version of the workout or the more challenging form.

Insanity workout program is also a good choice. However, you would definitely want to get your doctor's approval to do this video if you have recently giving birth. Insanity is a very intense cardio workout. There are so many success stories online of people completing the workout program and having outstanding results from it.

Aside from using a good workout video or program, it is important to remember that you need weight training as part of your weight loss journey. Many women try to stir clear of weight training thinking that it would make them look "bulky". However, weight training is an important key to losing weight as it help to build muscles (which help to burn fat) and tone your body.

What to do When You Feel UnMotivated

Get a Workout Buddy

Losing weight can be exciting for many. For some, it can be a big challenge. If you want to see results, you must be consisted. Having a workout partner can help you stay motivated and focused so that you don't give up so easily. If you don't have a workout buddy, you can keep yourself motivated by reading the success stories of others who lost weight. You can also join online forums to get support from those who are actively pursuing the same goal as you.

Getting Extra Help to Lose Weight

When exercising and diet along isn't giving you the results you need fast, some opt to using weight loss pills or supplements. While these can help you lose weight fast, you would still want to exercise and eat a healthy diet. You would also want to do research on any weight loss supplements you decide to take as some can have harmful and or discomforting side effects.

Caffeine is used in a lot of weight loss pills. Therefore, if you are sensitive to caffeine or if you deal with a lot of anxiety issues, you may want to avoid supplements with caffeine in them. Some people have reported feeling jittery, increased anxiety and insomnia after taking supplements with caffeine in them.

Keep Good Track of Your Progress

Keeping track of your progress is a greater motivator to keep you focused and meet your goal. It is also so much fun and rewarding to look back on your beginning point to see how far you have come and the results of your hard work. Before and after pictures, will also help you to see your progress and keep you inspired.

It is good to remember to check your weight and body measurements at the end of each week. It is normal for your weight to kind of fluctuate in the beginning, it will soon steadily go down as you continue in your weeks of training. You should give yourself at least two weeks of working out before you start seeing results. That is however, two weeks of working out and carefully monitoring your eating habits.
