Essential Oils – Ancient Medicine – More Precious than Gold

Updated on February 25, 2015

Baby Stroke

The Impossible Problem

Yesterday I attended a remarkable presentation by Diania DeCant, a health care practitioner with over 25 years experience in this field. She spent 11 years in nursing working on a medical surgical floor at a major hospital in Albuquerque. She followed that for the next 9 years doing medical research and consulting for a large law firm in Albuquerque. She told an amazing story of how she was introduced to Young Living Essential Oils in 2004 and how she integrated them into her practice and personal life ever since. She gave two presentations; the first one called “Dr. Mom,” which showed us how she discovered the oils and their uses in the home to treat burns, cuts, headaches colds, flu, toothaches, insomnia, allergies, brain function, and muscle aches and pains. Then she told us how the oils could protect against cancer by building up our immune systems. The room was full of people with no knowledge and much knowledge, but all were convinced at the end of these essential oils magnificent capabilities when used properly and regularly.

The first story involved her grandson who was born having suffered a stroke in the womb during childbirth. I didn’t know this was possible, but it happened to her grandson and the family was devastated when they realized this infant would probably never have a chance at a normal life. Almost 30% of his frontal lobe was damaged, he had no control over his little body, and according to the doctors, the brain damage would become irreversible after two years. They had no time to lose. Diania told herself there really was no hope, but she couldn’t believe that, this was her grandson! For six months they pursued a conventional line of treatment giving the boy prescription drugs, and going through physical therapy to build up his muscles. Nothing was improving his cognition, ability to track or build muscle tone to hold his body in position. He was like a rag doll that flopped around in your arms, not able to look at his mother or have any control over his body movements. What a travesty. I can’t imagine how much sadness they went through with this.

The Oils

The Twelve Ancient Scripture Oils

Then, Diania heard about Essential Oils and attended a lecture. She met a distributor that insisted she take a big book on Essential Oils and Aromatherapy (Essential Oils Desk Reference 3rd edition) by Essential Science Publishing) to find out how to use the oils. Diania took the book and after reading it she could not believe that it was true so she went to the University medical library  and looked up all the research sited in the book. After doing the research she decided to use the Ancient Scripture oils from Young Living. Essential oils, known as nature’s living energy, are aromatic volatile liquids derived from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds. This meeting turned their lives around. She didn’t have much faith that the set of oils called “The Ancient Scripture Oils” could really make a difference, but there was nothing to lose. So she started using a drop of each of these on the bottom of the infant’s feet. I’ll talk later more about specific oils and their uses, but for now I want to tell you the whole story. Gary Young of Young Living Essential Oils researches these precious plant distillations and has developed a very pure strain of all of these oils.

Twelve Single Oils include Aloes/sandalwood (Santalum album), cassia (Cinnamomum cassia), cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica), cypress (Cupressus sempervirens), frankincense (Olibanum -- Boswellia carteri), galbanum (Ferula gummosa), hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis), myrrh (Commiphora myrrha), myrtle (Myrtus communis), onycha (pronounced oh-nigh-kah, a very thick oil, remove the plastic orifice and warm the bottle in your hand so that the oil will flow -- Styrax benzoin), Rose of Sharon/cistus (Labdanum -- Cistus ladanifer), and spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi).

All of these were used in biblical times and were more valued than gold. The Bible references aromatics, incense and ointments more than 200 times as it was used to anoint the blessed and heal the sick. Upon Jesus’ birth the three wise men presented him with gifts of frankincense and myrrh as they were priceless medicines treating skin disorders, viral infections, depression and in modern times even cancer.

Purification

The Miracle

Diania went on to tell us how after just two weeks she began to feel the boy’s muscles tightening and his eyes able to look into hers better. She didn’t say any thing, not yet. After another week she definitely felt her grandson becoming stronger and responding through his eyes. Now she did say something to her daughter. The daughter also acknowledged the improvements. It was a veritable miracle! The doctors gave no hope for this child to recover from his birthing stroke. The Essential Oils brought him back, reviving his nervous system, stimulating his brain cells and ultimately providing almost complete restoration of his damaged frontal lobe. He is six years old now and one of the best students in school. No wonder Diania has become a crusader for Young Living Essential Oils and their tremendous versatility in improving so many dis-eases.

She went on to present various oils that are most commonly used such as Thieves Oil. I should first mention that Diania has tried several makers of Essential Oils, but finds her best results are achieved using the Young Living Oils so she uses them exclusively. Thieves Oil is a proprietary blend of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus and Rosemary.

“Research conducted at Weber State University in cooperation with D. Gary Young, as well as other documented research, indicates that most viruses, fungi, and bacteria cannot live in the presence of many essential oils, especially those high in phenols, carcacrol, thymol, and terpenes. This, perhaps, offers a modern explanation why the Old Testament prophet Moses used aromatic substances to protect the Isrealites from the plagues that decimated ancient Egypt. It may also help us understand why a notorious group of thieves, reputed to be spice traders and perfumers, was protected from the Black Plague as they robbed the bodies of the dead during the 15th century.” Essential Oils Desk Reference (4th edition) by Essential Science Publishing, p.6

It's the Best

The Story

It’s a fascinating story. The thieves rubbed this concoction of aromatic herbs on their hands, ears and temples and were able to then resist contracting the infamous Bubonic Plague. Thieves Oil has proved to be very effective combating airborne bacteria then and now. It kills germs and boosts the immune system offering protection during cold and flu season. One can use Thieves oil to disinfect an area used as a spray. It can be used on a toothbrush after brushing to keep the germs at bay. I've heard one friend say she puts a drop of it on the bottom of her dog's paws to calm him for a vet visit. It is really versatile. I encourage everyone to do some investigation regarding this oil, and all essential oils, as there is just too much to write here. I'm presently using it on my partner's feet, rubbing a little on the bottom at night, to see if it might help his arthritis. I'll let you know the results in a few weeks. I am so happy to know more about these ancient oils. They might just change my life.
