5 Emergency Must Have Items When You're Running Late

Updated on July 14, 2014

Don't Panic

So you stayed up all night reading that racy novel you couldn't put down. Maybe you were out celebrating your best friends birthday until 2am. Perhaps your child had a nightmare and you went to bed past midnight after consoling them. Exhausted, you fell asleep forgetting to set the alarm on your clock or cell phone. The next morning you're completely startled out of bed only to realize you have thirty minutes or less to hightail it to work or class. If you need to get yourself ready plus tend to children and pets you are now in full blown panic mode. Breathe. At some point in our lives we all wake up late and need to rush out the door. With some simple pre planning and a few indispensable items you can still make it on time while looking and feeling fabulous. Breathe.....

Baby Wipes

No time for a shower? Keep a supply of baby wipes in your home even if you don't have a baby. Unless you sweat profusely, roll around in mud or ran a marathon the night before you should be able to skip a shower or bath for one morning. Baby wipes are essential for quick easy clean ups, keeping intimate areas fresh as well as removing stains, deodorant spots and make up.

Other uses for baby wipes are cleaning the interior of your car such as the dash and all the little nooks and crannies between the seats and the doors.

Use baby wipes to safely clean off your computer or cell phone.

Wipe off make up brushes,

Clean base boards and railings in your home.

Keep doggies and kitties clean.

Swipe exterior of purses.

Wipe off public toilet seats.

Clean window trim.

Febreeze

Who has time to iron when you're pressed for time? Have an emergency "go to' outfit ready in your closet for days you are running late. Make sure it consists of something easy to throw on like a two piece pant suit. Slip on a colorful jacket with black trousers. Skip anything complicated like skirts with tights, blouses with lots of buttons or heels with straps. Thrown on a scarf. Spray your clothes with Febreeze for odor control and extra freshness.

Colgate Wisps

Colgate Wisps are mini toothbrushes that you can use anywhere, anytime and they don't require you to rinse. If you are ever in a hurry make sure you keep them in your purse or car to use when needed. Keep a mini mouthwash, floss or sugar free gum in your bag.

Dry Shampoo

When you're in a hurry the last thing you have time for is hair washing, straightening or curling. Purchase a great dry shampoo to eliminate hair odors and oil. You can find dry shampoos in the hair product aisle at your local grocery or pharmacy. Both Dove and TREsemme make excellent dry shampoo products. Pull hair back in a pony tail or up in a bun. Wear a stylish hat.

The 5 Minute Face

Quick Breakfast Food

Always keep a package of protein, snack or cereal bars in you vehicle, home, locker or office. Breakfast is the one meal you can't afford to skip.Your brain and body need fuel for proper functioning. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated Keep low maintenance fresh fruit like grapes, banana's or apples in your refrigerator to munch on in an emergency.

Breathe and Use Common Sense

Remember to stay calm. Please, keep in mind that when you're frazzled and rushed you're not thinking clearly. Call the office to inform them you may be a few minutes late. Never, ever run stop signs, traffic lights or cut people off to save a few minutes. If you have children slow down. Your safety and the safety of others is more important than being on time. Get to your destination before primping. Don't use an electric shaver or apply cosmetics until you arrive. Slathering make up on in the parking lot is better than applying mascara at fifty miles an hour. Take a few minutes to gather your thoughts before you walk in the door. You are fine. Breathe and have a fabulous day.
