The botanical name of tomato is Solanum lycopersicum which is now been replaced with Lycopersicon esculentu. Tomato is rich in various nutrients like vitamin A, C, anti oxidants like carotene, lycopene, and anthocyanine, fibers and potassium with good concentration of water. It is believed tomato is native to Mexico which spread to different parts of the world due to Spanish colonization of America. Its usage has different forms and nothing extensive is to be done to harness the benefits of tomatoes.

Use tomato pulp on the affected area on your face. Leave it for 20-30 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Regular use can treat acne problem.

Removes wrinkles- Take a fresh tomato and take out the juice out of it. Add 3-4 drops of lime juice in it. Mix it thoroughly and then apply it over your face. Leave it for 30 minutes and then rinse it off with mild warm water. It surely helps in removing the signs of aging.

Cleansing agent- Tomato and avocado mask is a great cleansing agent. Take a fresh tomato and take out the juice, then add some avocado paste into it. Mix it thoroughly and apply it over your face. Treats sunburn- Tomatoes are also beneficial in curing sunburn. Take two tablespoonful of tomato juice and three tablespoonful of buttermilk. Make a paste and apply it over the affected area. Leave it for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with mild warm water.

Keeps glowing skin- Tomato juice if mixed with honey is great home remedy to keep your face glowing and healthy. Take two teaspoonful of lemon juice and one teaspoonful of honey, mix them to make a paste. Apply this paste over your face and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it with lukewarm water. Do this twice in a week to get better results.

Extracts excess oil- Tomatoes are natural astringent. Take a fresh tomato and squeeze out the juice. Now mix the juice of one cucumber into the tomato juice and then apply it over your face preferably with a cotton ball. It extracts excess oil and thus controls pigmentation and acne problem.
