Healthy Alternatives for kids
Healthy alternatives for school lunch boxes
Being a Mum I find it stressful when finding healthy alternatives for my kids’ school lunches. After reading up on all the additives and preservatives added in foods, you need to have a serious look at what you feed your children. Certain foods with additives do cause behavioural and concentration problems.
Giving your children fresh filtered water instead of soft drinks and juice boxes loaded with preservatives and sugar, will be beneficial and hydrates the body. It helps to flush out toxins in the body and processing brain function.
I have made the change to provide my children with organic or foods without additives/preservatives. Here are some ideas for school lunch boxes that I have come across.
· Fresh Fruit - sliced/diced/ chopped
· Vegie Chips - has no nasties
· Fresh Vegetables –sliced/diced/chopped
· Rice crackers - plain , the flavoured has MSG
· Home made cookies
· Home made muffins - please add chopped fruit
· A slice of vegetable quiche, vegetable slice or a vegetable muffin
· Chopped Vegetables e.g Carrots Sticks

Vitamins and minerals are an essential part of healthy children. Make sure your children receives plenty of fish , fruit and vegetables. If they don't get enough of omega 3, iodine and other minerals, there are alternatives such as: fish oil supplements, multivitamins or the one that I give my children is Blackmores Mineral Minds. It has all the essential vitamins including iodine for brain function.
There are a different range of products, take your time and research which one will be the best for your child.
