Summer is here! Are you ready to wear that bikini? Are you ready to take that shirt off? Or are you going to wear something loose to cover your tummy? If your like most of us the thought of going to the beach and exposing yourself is less than appealing.

It takes plenty of will power to lose weight and maintain that weight loss. Many people lose weight; but feel tired and have no energy to exercise. Putting good food into your body is vital when taking on an exercise routine. When it comes to diet and exercise its all about balance.

I have been using three awesome applications which can be downloaded and installed on your smartphone.

These applications cover all the bases. My Fitness Pal takes care of the calorie counting using a huge database of common foods. All you have to do is setup a free account on myfitnesspal.com then download the application to your smartphone. The whole process is very simple and should only take about ten minutes. When entering foods into the My Fitness Pal application all you have to do is enter the food into the search area then press enter. The database is searched for your food then the results are displayed. Most popular brands and restaurants are in the food database. This is the best part! It takes all the work out counting calories.

Endomondo tracks your outdoor activities using the GPS on your smartphone. For example I went for a run today with my smartphone and Endomondo running. When I was finished I looked up my workout results on the Endomondo website. I could see where I ran, calories burned and how long it took me. Endomondo has several different types of workouts to choose from. For example you can choose from basic to distance or calories burned. You can also challenge your friends to beat your time on specific routes.

Pocket Trainer is like having a personal trainer in your pocket. The workouts are generated each time you workout. Never again will you have a dull workout at the gym. Leave all the workout planning and tracking to your personal trainer--on your smartphone. Pocket Trainer asks you how much time you have and if you will be at the gym or home. Then it adjusts the workout to suit your time and place.

A personal trainer can cost as much as forty dollars per hour. Most of us mortals cannot afford more that a few sessions. Pocket Trainer tracks your workouts as well as providing you with a new workout each day. The good news is you can download Pocket Trainer for approximately $12.99 for a one time fee. The Endomondo application is free to download with an option to upgrade to the Pro version. The free version works great. My Fitness Pal is totally free to use. Both Endomondo and My Fitness Pal can be accessed through their main websites.

For example I perform three days of resistance training per week coupled with cardio training on alternating days. You can choose other types of cardiovascular activities. I personally like to run or cycle.

  • Monday--Weights
  • Tuesday--Running
  • Wednesday--Weights
  • Thursday--Cycling
  • Friday--Weights
  • Saturday--Running
  • Sunday--Rest

The powerful combination of these three applications provides easy tracking of your calories and workouts saving time and effort so you can spend your efforts on working out. Endomondo and My Fitness Pal also have vibrant online communities to help and encourage you in your weight loss and fitness goals. Working out with friends is allot more fun. Don't be a loner! Get some friends together and get fit this summer. Let's all go to the beach and take our shirts off!
