What can we do using our mind power- 10 Amazing Facts

Updated on March 25, 2016

Our mind has power to overcome obstacles, we might encounter. It stems from our thoughts. Every thought is action and the response is effect. Unleashing our power helps persist in our efforts. Our subconscious mind has power to accept or reject any statement based on our conscious decision. Our unconscious mind controls all the vital processes. This unconscious happens in our mind –the way we perceive things around us we send signals to our mind to response in particular situation. Scientists found through mindset that is our attitude and approach to be one of the critical factors in how long you stick with something and how well you learn it.

Here we’ll check incredible jobs our mind can do for us by just having little attention.

1. FIREWALKS

Firewalking is the act of walking barefoot over a bed of hot embers or stones without hurting ourselves. For century of years, thousands of people have used their brilliant mind to do this incredible job including Tony Robins, Moslem man, Ahmed Hussain, and several others. Tolly Burkan is the founder of the Firewalking Institute of Research and Education in Twain Harte, California.

According to Physics, heat can be transmitted through conduction. When the walker's feet come in contact with the hot coals, it produces conduction. Physicians say despite of that, mental preparation is really important to make it possible. Our mind signals nervous system to produce such sensory inputs which avoids sustainable severe pain. If one can consciously alter his unconscious generated signals by “it’s OK, It wouldn’t hurt me”, it disappears normal pain sensation.

"What controls [the ability to fire walk] is more than physics, it's your state of mind," Burkan said.

According to Willey, the Pittsburgh physicist, mind over matter theories aren’t responsible for physical firewalks but it’s self-confidence that would make it possible.

2. Control Emotions

Our thoughts affect us physically and emotionally. Emotions and thoughts play in our mind. We must find out reason vs. emotion to control our thinking to change any feeling. According to Dispenza research, emotions are the result of repetitive behavior. The body responds to certain emotions with “addicted” chemicals that in turn influence the mind to have same reaction like feeling stressed(often happens) in working days.

Voices over actors use this technique to allow their minds to enter the world of emotions and direct their minds to pick required emotion. We can consciously control our mind by interacting every single thought and analyze it before we decide either to accept or reject it.

According to James-Lange Theory, a situation occurs and the brain interprets the situation, causing a characteristic physiological response. It shows; signal we generate consciously causes having emotions accordingly. Like, some people laugh when they’re angry to control their selves by overcoming their anger with fake happy emotions.

Ravi Thiruchselvam, Department of Psychology, Stanford University performed new research in which participants were directed to focus on neutral and negative parts of an image. Researchers found that focusing on the neutral part of the image reduced the amount of negative emotion .These findings suggest that selective attention alters emotional responses arise within working memory. So, our thoughts work in changing the way the brain regulates emotion by paying attention to our mind processes.

3. Fight diseases

75% to 95% of the illnesses are a direct result of our thoughts. The average person has over 30,000 thoughts a day.

We can strengthen our immune system by strength of mind and fight diseases with will power. We cultivate our mind with negative thoughts affect us physically by making us dump, stressful and unhealthy. Modern researches acknowledge there is invisible doctor inside everyone. This doctor is none else their mind itself. There is mind-body connection in which we focus/concentrate our body with positive injected thoughts in mind without distractions and better our inflammation system.

In 1989, a clinical study by David Spiegel, M.D. at Stanford University School of Medicine demonstrated the healing power of the mind. Of 86 women with late stage breast cancer, half were treated with medical care while the other half received standard care plus weekly support sessions. It was discovered that the women who participated in the social support group lived twice than the other half.

4. Telekinesis

Our brain has capacity more than we imagine. Human mind performs incredibly in moving objects. We have hidden physic power to control materialist objects without any physical touch. As it’s much close to spirituality by gathering all physic power concentrating /putting it all together on a single object result movement.

Telekinesis generates strong electromagnetic field. As it is extremely rare, most deny even its existence by naming it as “trick” or “magic”. But still researchers are working to find out the exact reasoning behind it. Even telekinesis considered to be effective tool for army assistance.

Dr. Robert Jahn, dean emeritus of Princeton University’s School of Engineering, remained in search of mind power by performing many experiments.

A meeting on psychokinesis was held at the Naval Research Laboratory in the 1980s, Davis said, and “warned that foreign adversaries could exploit micro- or macro-PK to induce U.S. military fighter pilots to lose control of their aircraft and crash”. A remote viewing program run by the U.S. government for decades was ended by President Bill Clinton in 1994 and declassified in 1995.

Telekinesis has downside also as it includes mental effort causes high blood pressure and heart rate. Even after the experiments, participant has to take significant time to come into normal condition.

5. Healthy Relationship

Mindset is really important to create passionate marriage or healthy relationship. Sexual activity is under control of our nervous system i.e. subconscious mind. Physiological actions such as erection are controlled by autonomic nervous system where negative mindset causes stress response results unhealthy sex. Mediation helps to sustain healthy relationship like physical exercises triggers physiological reactions that boost libido. Meditation increases in compound nitric oxide that open up blood vessels causes increase in blood flow to genital areas. Positive mindset triggers the relaxation response and induces emotional well-being.

According to Lori Brotto, a professor of gynecology at the University of British Columbia, mindfulness targets the negative self-talk appears to help people let go of distractions like anxiety, stress, depression and anchor their experience.

In a 2008 pilot study, Brotto provided three sessions of mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy (MB-CBT) to cancer survivors with severe sexual desire and arousal problems. Women were asked to meditate for five to seven weeks to increase their sexual desire awareness by focusing on their breathing and body sensations. It was done with couple of sexual arousal exercises and cognitive therapy to challenge negative thoughts. When compared to awaited women patients, the women receiving the MB-CBT had found their mindfulness exercises to be the most helpful part of their treatment.

6. Successful life

Stanford University’s Dr. Dweck, Lisa Blackwell PhD, in decades of research on success and achievement, has discovered the incredible mindset power. According to her, Growth mindset (believe that our basic abilities can be developed over time through experience, practicing) leads to success providing gratification.

We just need to change our rigid thinking and dedicate ourselves to goals by shifting fixed mindset (believe that our abilities, intelligence, character are static and can’t be changed) to growth mindset to increase productivity and live successful life. As our thoughts become stronger with the passage of time, begin to affect our expectations, attitude and even deeds.

Neuro linguistic programming is a technique to communicate (verbal language, body language) with our self. NLP uses self-image and attitude to response in certain situation. It helps reprogram and cultivate our mind with desired thoughts. People are engaged using these techniques and found successful life.

7. Sports Performance

99% performance, in sports, is mental. Sportsmen stated they already play the whole game before it happens in real. It gives them essence of confidence and achievement result in greater endurance.

Recent research shows that music alters emotional and psychological arousal thus reduces the anxious feelings of athletes fostering an optimal mindset. Negative thoughts invade individual’ mind thus loses concentration. Optimistic thoughts, goal setting, visualization, concentration, self-talk and awareness are the psychological strategies to improve sports performance. The ability of the mind to generate dedicated thought helps sportsmen to ensure hit the goal well. (Hanson-Utley et al. 2008).

Another research in Sydney, Australia investigated the effectiveness of a centering breath on the free throw shooting percentage of young athletes’ age 10-11 years. It was proved that the use of visual inspection the centering breath was proved to be very helpful tool for better performance.

8. Day dreaming

Day dreaming is that when our conscious mind drifts from the task and wander the subconscious. Researchers say that day dreaming is connected with intelligence and creativity. Even it helps to take apart a problem and perceive it in completely different way to be decisive.

Our subconscious mind helps us to synthesize learning and experience through day dreaming.

York University psychologist Raymond Mar and associates (2012) asked men and women ranging from 18 to 85 to report on the frequency and vividness of their daydreams as well as their life satisfaction, levels of loneliness, and social support. For both genders, who daydreamed about their social network, family, relations were more likely to experience life satisfaction while those who dreamed about romance (past events), reported loneliness, less satisfaction and social support.Day dreaming shapes our memory, attention even healthy relations.

9. Boost memory

The subconscious potential to memorize is enormous. Our conscious mind overloads managing coming bits of information on daily basis. Contrary, our subconscious stores all events information which may never deal then, unless we choose to process any particular information later in dreams or real. Even therapists try to access forgotten or repressed information to memorize. Visual exercises help to boast our immune system. Researchers say our memory is a process and remembering is to reconstruct any event in mind. Gazzaniga (1988) reported that memory occurs throughout the nervous system. On the release of specific chemical, message communicates with all body parts by chemo taxis (transmits message through “radar” to blood flows). Muscle memory is also associated with organ transplants. People with donor organs reported depressed and emotional experience with certain incidents they never had before.

In research, twenty three cancer survivors aged 7 to 19 completed 40 sessions of Lumosity computerized brain training. The prominent change was noticed in processing speed, increase mental flexibility, declarative memory, and prefrontal cortex activation (such planning, organizing, focusing complex events). Researchers direct to implement these exercises at home help to improve executive and memory skills in this group.

In research of Meditation changes brain structure, improving attention, it was observed that Gray matter in our brain becomes denser in participants who meditate 30 minutes a day for 8 weeks. The result suggests that participants in MBSR [mindfulness meditation] involved in learning and memory processes..."

10. Fosters Creativity

Supportive thoughts lead to massive empowering positive actions. Right mindset forms the core of our self-worth and relish innovative ways of thinking.

Scientists suggest capture new ideas, seek out challenging tasks, broaden knowledge and surrounding with interesting things and people are the keys to foster our creativity. These four areas help enhance creativity with using our mindset.

A study was conducted to prove mind power as a creative tool. A training seminar was arranged by Epstein consisting of games and exercises. Seventy-four city employees from Orange County, Calif., participated in that seminar to strengthen their proficiency in these four skill sets. After Eight months training, employees were able to increase their rate of new idea generation by 55 percent—resulted in generating more than $600,000 new revenue and a savings of about $3.5 million through innovative cost reductions.
